Former Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State did something similar in Ekiti State a when he built the first major Fly-over bridge between year 2015-2019 across the Okesha axis in Ado Ekiti.

He instructed all those families with old structures around the Bridge area to give the old buildings a face-lift and change the roofs or his government would revoke thier Certificate of Occupancy and the old buildings would be demolished. Also same mandate was given to old un-occupied buildings in the axis. It was a huge success as all the old houses where given a face-lift and a drone view after the renovation gave better optics and a better urban-renewal life to Ado Ekiti.

On painting of houses, I think government should make a law that houses should be repainted every 5years. They should issue Certificate for such and have records for easy implementation.

Houses that use tiles or claddings should be thoroughly washed every 5years and the tiles/Claddings should be replaced at intervals not more than 20years. They should also be issued certificate.

This program should be similar to the way VIO inspect and issue road worthiness certificate.

Obi's administration was a disaster.
