Jefferyzz:Could you give an estimate and breakdown of what this would cost, more specifically the inverter, cc and panels? |

Abeg help put mouth easyyoke: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bbally: 4:09pm On Feb 24 |
easyyoke: Probably your batteries are full, if not try put on the inverter to draw some watts and if the cc will draw some current from the panel. Also, snap the battery voltage and current interface of the CC. @icjunior |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 6:27pm On Feb 24 |
icjunior: Remove solar input and put it back Then go to settings D4 select 00. This is default settings for lead acid. Then proceed to set the voltage of the battery D1 and D2 I think |

easyyoke: What type of charge controller are you using? Can we see pictures for PV wire and battery connections on the charge controller? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 6:36pm On Feb 24 |
My ogas in the house, pls i need ur help? Got a must 5kva 48v hybrid inverter with mppt volt range of 60 to 130vdc and VOC of 145vdc. I have 8 panels of 300w with ffl specs of Vmp 32.7, Voc 39.3, Imp 9.18 and Isc 9.65. What's best way to connect it. Distance from roof to charger is about 15m. Installer recommends 2 strings of 4 panels in series then parallel both strings. Also wud a 6mm solar cable suffice or its too small? Thanks for ur help. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:03pm On Feb 24 |
Drgreatone:2s4p considering you have just 8 If adding an extra panel is not going to be an issue, 3s3p |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 7:05pm On Feb 24 |
Obnoxious2001:Thanks. My fear is its dangerously close to the VOC. Also what wire guage wud u advice? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:11pm On Feb 24 |
Drgreatone: If you are running high voltage, your wire gauge becomes smaller. For this application 6mm is okay. However if you will be upgrading in the future, you might have to factor in cost of wires |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:14pm On Feb 24 |
Drgreatone:39.8 * 3 = roughly 120v. 39.8 *2 = 80v roughly. Running 4s is a waste of one panel to me from experience. So choose your fate accordingly |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by easyyoke: 7:18pm On Feb 24 |
mctfopt: All I need is wire guage size sir. Pictures bawo😄. If you want to carry 80amp from Charge controller to 12v system Battery. How many mm wire will sufficiently carry 80A. Battery distance to controller is less than 1yard. Thats what I am asking |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:21pm On Feb 24 |
easyyoke:25mm+ |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by easyyoke: 7:25pm On Feb 24 |
Obnoxious2001: Will 25mm wire be able to enter those small small holes that most of these MPPT charge controllers come with. Cos 25mm is quite thick |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Obnoxious2001(m): 7:31pm On Feb 24 |
easyyoke: You have to force it. But yes it will |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 7:32pm On Feb 24 |
Obnoxious2001:Pls what do u mean by running 4s is a waste? Is it cos of the VOC? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Trippledots(m): 7:38pm On Feb 24 |
easyyoke: Why are you running 80amps? That's a lot of current for an SHS. Well if you must, then use a cable ferrule to terminate the cable before connecting.keep close watch on temperature of that setup too. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by brightk(m): 7:38pm On Feb 24 |
easyyoke: 10mm x 2 if u want to manage |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 8:22pm On Feb 24 |
Trippledots: Nope,I assumed it would detect it's a 24v system and automatically adjust just like it said on the manual. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 8:24pm On Feb 24 |
Obnoxious2001: Can I message you off of here please? Cos I am thinking the cc is faulty at this moment,my battery was very very low prior to that and when the cc wasn't charging it,I had to disconnect and use a generator to charge and when I plugged back into the cc,the case was still the same thing. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by icjunior(m): 8:25pm On Feb 24 |
bbally: My batteries were very low during the time I made the initial post,soI had to use a generator to boost it for 3hrs. And after the boosting, the cc kept functioning the way it did earlier. |

Don't no what kind of system u want or d size of ur load, ur location will determine cost of materials but u can get some items off this thread Lifepo4 battery from Valto Jinko panel, I'm sure u must av notice someone posting that here SPD MCB DB n cables from zeestone Etc guente02: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 11:31pm On Feb 24 |
guente02:What happened to the smk? What was the setup like with it in terms of protective devices/panels seeing as its just the inverter that got bad and needs replacement from ur submission. That wud help in advising u further. |
