Thank you for the reply ..and lastly, what about someone going for a PhD and he’s self funding it, will he also get a date within 4 weeks?

And also what about someone going for a masters degree? With or without funding
All PHDs fall under category A.

Masters without funding falls under Category B

MrAAA2:

PhD are usually not regular admissions.
You technically must have been offered a place by the principal investigator/researcher before applying to a university.

Visit universities websites, search for ongoing projects in the different departments and institutes, if any of them arouses your interest, send an unsolicited cover letter, proposal in relation to the field (a cold email).

Other ways include following researchers in your field of interest in LinkedIn, X. Visit alumni pages on these platforms, industries in these areas and other sources.

Some edu sites like PhD portals work too but chances are that, there a few or already places before advertising.

For your last point, do you mean that these advertised openings might’ve been internally occupied sometimes before they even advertised them ? So, it might be useful sometimes to send unsolicited email to these PIs to see whether they can somehow fit you in their project?

Guys, from my calculations, I will get an appointment in May ending because I booked in September 14th, 2022. Since my session starts in October 1st, is it possible I get the visa on June/early July to enable me book my flight early enough? Or must the visa be approved close to the travel time?

From what I’ve heard so far, it takes a long time before approval. However, I’ll advise you worry less about the time frame and focus more on how to get your documents right to get an approval in the end.

When your appointment date arrives, it takes exactly one month from the day the email lands in your inbox to the AD date. After that, the timeline is not fixed for AM(Approval). From late last year, it has been 4 weeks, but I've seen 2 week, and even 3 weeks this year. Remember, it used to be 3 months around October. The coming of you AM depends on your city. If everything goes well, then expect it in July.

My advice is to book your flight when AD arrives.

I guess you want to say when AM(Approval Mail for Visa) arrives?

For the first question, it is likely if they have for example a good MSc graduate who wants to fast track into PhD. Or a MSc graduate whose thesis' outcome was limited by time and there's need for that research extension to see the end. Other times, PhD fundings and opportunities are first internally announced and advertised.

It is very useful to send unsolicited emails

PhDs are very tailored to:
A specified research group
Funding for the research
Availability of supervisor for that study.

If a department received funding for computational toxicology, they will only want to accept applicants interested or eligible for it.

I'll have a contrary opinion on the flight booking. Book your flight when you have your visa. Tickets do not astronomically go so high in/until Sept maybe.

Calm down... Book flight when you get your visa.

Flights are still cheap in August-September.

You should be enquiring about apartment at your university by now.

Thank you very much Hannania. I really appreciate your efforts towards answering people here in helpful ways. My city is Dresden. Its in South-Eastern Germany and I hope they don't delay too much.

No one can tell you for certain. The most important thing is your AD. At least you know worst of all, you'll get AM in a maximum time range of 12 weeks. Just pray yours is sooner like recent cases. AD is the goal

Clearly, your course is partially in German, and you were offered a provisional admission pending when you get required level of German, B1 maybe.

Thank you so much for your answers . Please I have some more questions:
1 should I go ahead to apply for a German language school from A1 to C1? I was told it's €500 for each level 2. Please how long does it take to get a German study visa after application?
3. Will my admission still be waiting for me until I conclude the language course and pass the C1 DSH exams, Within the one year time frame?

Hello everyone,
I have come again cheesy it's been a long time.
I finally got admitted to study Masters in Data and Computer Science in Universität Heidelberg but there's a little hassle for me: I would like to defer my admission to winter semester instead of the summer semester they asked me to resume for in April. Is anyone familiar with that?

This would be the best for me because I have some loose ends to tie up. I already work full-time in Germany (Blue Card) and I am just trying to sort some stuff out here then find a place in Heidelberg to make a smooth transition.

This is a long way to go. How about you try more schools?

1. German language schools have a plan usually, A1.1, A1.2, B1, B2...to C1 each lasting up to 8 weeks. For your study, B2 might be the minimum, you can get it in one year of INTENSIVE study.
2. From embassy in Nigeria, budget >18 months
3. If its conditional admission, yes provided you achieve the German proficiency required.

I will strongly advise you try new schools.

I'll advise you enrol for the summer hence you're in Germany. Request for one semester leave.

Congrats on Heidelberg.

July 5th got a date yesterday. I've not seen 6th to the 9th, so I'm not sure. They maintained an allocation of 9 dates earlier this month, but it's been 5 days(as we know) presently.

If the pace continues as it is, 10th of July will get this week Friday which is the 1st of March, then yours will come on the 8th. Please beg your sponsor and inform him of the current date. Come here every Friday to know the latest. Let's hope it gets better.

You've waited long, don't miss this great opportunity

The Bavarian formula is stated as:

Where

x= Your score translated into German grades.

Nmax= The maximum score, GPA, or CGPA that can be obtained in your degree.

Nmin= The minimum score, GPA, or CGPA that can be obtained in your degree so that one can be declared passed.
Nd= The score, GPA, or CGPA that you have obtained.

It differs from city to city. On average, we've seen 4 weeks from late last year. At this point, just sit right and wait. The most difficult part is over. Maximum is 3 months, but let's hope they stick to the few weeks it has been recently.

Remember your city is the point of questioning

I will not affect your application. Just prepare to answer the question why going for another bsc and not masters. If I may ask when did you finish your first degree
