fergie001: Haha, these people are not serious, all these policy will being down the rate of dollar doe weeks, then the price will shoot up again, while slowing business activities drastically. Importers of raw materials will find it difficult to import which will drastically affect the GDP and employment in general. They know the right thing to do, but will not so it. 1 Like |

watch the retun of black market...blacker than before. Because if people need to go take care of their health or pay their child's tuition abroad, they will do all they can to get dollars, demand will soon put pressure on supply now. These idiots should coordinate economic policies across all agencies of government towards supporting production of things that can be exported 2 Likes |

Didijiji: President Jonathan was a coward. Don't blames those old wicked and selfish men protesting against the decisions of a seating president. Blame the president for his failure to stand his ground and implement his policies. Jonathan should be the one apologizing to Nigerians for allowing APC to mess up Nigeria. 1 Like |

hosemujica: What we paid for school fees in 10 years is just a single loan that a politician move with a signature. Even this inflation is partly common Nigerians paying for past government loot. Anyone that earned in naira then convert it to dollars in order to pay a useless school fees, please just leave them alone. They earn the right to pay for the useless school fees "e no eazi". |

All these going to abroad to school in foreign universities and go for medical treatment abroad is the cause of this dollars rising everyday and naira losing value...let value and patronize what we have in this country....is not everytime abroad abroad abroad, foreign things, foreign universities and hospitals..if nigerians reduce the way they travel to abroad to attend foreign universities and go for medical treatment the dollar will crash and the naira will have value, appreciate and strengthen against the dollars 2 Likes |

Re: CBN limits Dollar Purchase From BDCs: $10000 For School Fees, $5000 For Medicals by hosemujica: 7:47pm On Feb 26 |
faceland:No one is stopping you from paying your school fees but buying some government rate means a farmer who can’t afford to pay $10000 in school fees is subsidizing your fees ,that’s not fair. Source your $ Aboki government should sell her own $ on the black market and use the money to do what government does. Roads, security, safety administration and other necessary things subsidizing the rich is not part of it . Even in western world college education is optional, high school diploma is the basics of education, whoever wants the luxuries of higher education in the west should pay full money it. Only happens in Nigeria, good thing they are beginning to figure it out. Any subsidy that an average Nigerian can’t benefit from like ; fuel , gas , electricity and food is not a subsidy but appeasement of the rich. Again I’m happy they are looking into this if not $ will kill naira in no distant time. 1 Like |

BigDawsNet: 10k is too small. These people are not serious and their law can't work. As at 2011, Doing a degree in Medicine in University of Ghana for a foreign student was $10,000. So, how would the student get the rest of the money since school fees in most schools in UK for masters is above $20000? |
Re: CBN limits Dollar Purchase From BDCs: $10000 For School Fees, $5000 For Medicals by Omoapena(m): 3:24am On Feb 27 |
tonicyril: So, this will only make matters worst in black market unless government will sell directly to end users but what will happen in case where someone needs $30,000 and can only request for $10,000 highest, the person will have to reach road side Mallam to buy more and they will sell higher since it's not easy acquiring dollars... Matter will get worst, only way forward is to cancel out BDC and let banks take over FX fully ,and anyone who needs higher amount of $ will tender documents to back the dollar request. If not, BDC will still hoard it and sell higher to end users... |
Re: CBN limits Dollar Purchase From BDCs: $10000 For School Fees, $5000 For Medicals by Omoapena(m): 3:32am On Feb 27 |
ufotunang: If you were to be rich and you need medical attention, would you prefer to get treatment here or get it from a very good hospital in abroad? Attending schools, hospital and co in abroad isn't the cause of hike in dollar to naira, there's no way people will stop demanding for dollars in the country, so many things are being imported into the country with dollar... Government just need a proper policy to track dollar usage in the country. |
Re: CBN limits Dollar Purchase From BDCs: $10000 For School Fees, $5000 For Medicals by Omoapena(m): 3:37am On Feb 27 |
Cantonese: Exactly, things might get worst with this policy, this government is clearly clueless and just doing try and error policies. If this didn't turn out the way they want, they switch to another policy. The last time cardosso made a statement, he said to run the Apex bank isn't easy, it's not easy for him cox he's a dollard, he should let a competent person take over if he's unable to critically think of a good policy... |
Re: CBN limits Dollar Purchase From BDCs: $10000 For School Fees, $5000 For Medicals by Omoapena(m): 3:45am On Feb 27 |
Tap0lane: This cannot reduce dependency on FX, there's no way government can reduce dependency on FX... You need to understand this, they can only make sure this dollars doesn't get to the wrong hands that will sell at higher amount to end users, people will forever request for dollars for all foreign transactions. Let banks handle all FX and rule out BDC, nobody should patronize BDC for FX, if you need $100k goto bank and tender reason for that amount, and they should be able to give you if after investigation proves what you needed it for us genuine... |
