The fact is that he is not to blame for our economic woes; I may not and will never consider him to be my president (someone with an identity crisis, a phoney academic background, and a wealth-acquisition mindset is not someone I will ever support), nor did I endorse him in the manner that most rational Nigerians did. In my opinion and that of other rational Nigerians, he is only in the presidency because of the electoral system's corruption and the small number of Nigerians whose opinions are determined solely by their tribe or religion.

Nigerians and our political leaders have refused to follow the example set by China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, who have built their economies to be economically wealthy and self-sufficient through sound economic policies and decisions, for over forty years today. We are in this situation because of our over-reliance on oil exploration and its corruption, our eagerness to take out loans for consumption, and our poor and self-serving economic policies. The previous administration's deal dealt a serious blow to the already dead economy, aggravating the already chaotic situation. The system was being openly abused by them; corruption combined with tribalism and nepotism resulted in the current state of our economy. If Tinubu had not acted quickly to end the PMS subsidy and keep borrowing to keep our currency from collapsing, Nigeria would have been proclaimed "a sovereign default."

I am aware that some people will argue that he ought to have implemented economic and palliative measures prior to making the significant move. It is important to remind those people that out of 200 million Nigerians, the majority are politically gullible and unwilling to accept the consequences of their actions or inactions. A country lacks morality when its people embrace corruption at all levels. People like us oppose all good intentions unless they appease our avaricious and unfulfilled desires.

In 2012, there was a chance to steer the economy towards a more robust and stable system, but Tinubu and the majority of Nigerians once again blocked that admirable move by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. We should hold ourselves and Tinubu accountable for the economic crisis before he assumes the presidency because actions have consequences. Thus, when Tinubu was not holding the presidency, we could hold him accountable.

Instead of levelling accusations at Tinubu, Nigerians should advise him to reduce the cost of recurrent expenditure, appoint technocrats to oversee the economy, and be prepared to implement unpopular but sensible economic policies. Nigerians need to abandon all inclinations towards criminality and corruption, as well as their mindset towards nation-building. By consuming what we produce, we can work towards self-reliance. We should also get ready to fulfil all of our civic duties and become good citizens. Then, and only then, are we able to witness greatness.

I only hope Seun and co will not delete my thread again.

Tinubu masterminded the printing of naira. This is the reason for inflation and downfall of Naira.

Buhari printed 22 billion while Tinubu is at N8 trillion. That's paper economy we have here

By Making our leaders take accountability, find a way to balance trade by exporting more than we import, eradicate corruption, and reduce the cost of running the government.

Was Tinubu responsible for printing and distributing Naira?
Did Tinubu oppose the diversification of our economy?
Was Tinubu the one who suggested that Nigerians and our bank engage in round-tripping forex?
Was it Tinubu who disapproved of candidates who could get us out of this wood?
Yes, of the 200 million Nigerians, Tinubu is the only one who is corrupt.
It will benefit us all if we accept responsibility as soon as possible.

We are here right now because there is no believe on the naira that's the cause of this economic issue

Even with the 30 trillion printed naira should be max 900 to a dollar now

Floating an unstable currency just like that is the cause of what we are facing
If you don't know economics say so

He can either float the naira and free us from generational debts, or he can borrow to support it. Even though he may not be the best candidate for the job, he made the controversial but sensible decision.

Saying Tinubu won is like trying to make Nigerians look stupid to the world . If Mahmoud had done the right thing, either Obi or Atiku would have won the elections

Do you have enough forex to keep defending the naira? Are you saying the country should keep borrowing so it can be used to defend the naira and maintain subsidy? How do you repay these debts that are piling up?

Our trade balance have always been positive

Do defending the naira has never been the issue

Tinubu created demand for dollars where there was no demand by his unguarded speech about floating the naira

Had 18 million I converted to dollars even though there was absolutely no need to other than preserve value

As an example, let me use myself. After Tinubu took office, I converted all of my savings to dollars. To my surprise, when I converted those dollars back to naira, my savings increased threefold. Politicians and wealthy Nigerians, as well as many of my friends, also took this action. Economics are being sabotaged just by this. Round-tripping forex is practiced by banks and affluent Nigerians. Almost all Nigerians are born with a corrupt family. Both drink and eat it.
