Japanese, Chinese Investors Plan Completion Of Anambra’s Orient Refinery by chino11(m): 10:36am On Jan 28, 2012 |
Some Japanese and Chinese investors are seeking partnership with the government of Anambra State towards the completion of the state’s Orient Petroleum Refinery project. The team, led by Mr. Akuzu Nwokedi, met with Governor Peter Obi in Awka on Tuesday. A member of the team, Mr. Machindin Amatsu, said the refinery project was one of the ventures the team plans to put money on, adding, however, that they would not only invest in the refinery, but would also attract investment into other areas of business in the state. To actualise its plan of completing the refinery, the team would be working with Orient Petroleum Incorporation of the United States. Governor Obi, in welcoming the investors, said that Anambra, as the home of entrepreneurship, required increased power supply as more industries and businesses would soon come on stream. He expalined that Nigeria was one of the most fertile countries for investment and that the country had created an avenue for in-flow of capital and easy repatriation of profit by investors. In addition, he said Nigeria had the biggest market in Africa that provided viable alternative to the highly competitive markets in the developed economies. http://sweetcrudereports.com/2011/12/14/japanese-chinese-investors-plan-completion-of-anambras-orient-refinery/ 1 Like |

This collaborates Emeka Anyaoku's comment on the project: ORIENT Petroleum Resources (OPR) —Refining and Petrochemicals Ltd, has given the indication that its refinery would be “up and running” by the end of 2012 when the envisaged completion of the refinery installation would have been completed. Giving this assurance, while delivering a speech at the 2011 Annual General Meeting of the company in Awka, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, said this would include the overseas procurement and shipment of long-lead items and on-site fabrication of storage tanks. According to the reverred diplomat, Orient has completed the acquisition process, including the perimeter and topographical surveys of 240 hectares of land at the refinery site in Anambra State and another 21 hectares at Lokoja, Kogi State for stand-alone petroleum products depot expected to serve the central and northern parts of the country. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=66660:orient-refinery-fully-operational-end-of-2012-says-anyaoku&catid=31:business&Itemid=562 |

^^ Not a case of having refined product out and about but utilizing the revenues to Build Anambra State. Three world class cities, world class town villages. Accountability is vital in dealing with thieves at the center of affairs, as the desire for self determination by the masses outweighs the urge for the greedy executive amongst us to en-mass wealth and condemn the masses to servitude. |

Japanese and Chinese working together? Now that's a new one. @Bliss4lyfe, I agree wholeheartedly. We want to see world-class cities being built from the expected revenues. Let's learn from the likes of Dubai and use our revenues from oil and gas to develop other sectors. Its not just about setting up a refinery. |

Nobody has stood up to ask questions about this refinery commissioned by Jonathan in 2012. This is nearly 12 years later and it seems not to have existed after all 2 Likes

idealogical: When Peter Obi said China went back to China, this is the outcome. This is the kind of nonsense lies we would have been hearing all over the place if the Gbajue guy had won the election. 12 years later, there will be nothing to show for it. 5 Likes |

Re: Japanese, Chinese Investors Plan Completion Of Anambra’s Orient Refinery by nairalanda1(m): 7:59am On Mar 04 |
seunmsg: Well , the refinery was not completed because Nigerians like you opposed subsidy removal Gej agreed with you and removed subsidy. As a result, refineries like the oriental refinery could not operate or get investors because at the end , subsidy means they sell at a loss and they lose money. Now your party has been forced by the debt incurred by keeping subsidy into a partial removal. Up till now they refuse to do full removal The thing about forcing businesses to operate at a loss, it drives away investment. Yes, pdp messed up, but your party by keeping subsides is driving away investment in domestic refining, and putting private refineries at risk of failure. Better face reality and stop the mockery |
