Nah to just stick with the little Afolabi shares I get for TRANSCORP. No need to rush as long as the parent coy no dey reduce her holdings in the POWER arm.

A word of advice to newbies on this forum is to go back to the very first page of this forum and follow through. 50% of your questions can be answered by just doing due diligence to go through past comments.

Even till this day I still backtrack to refresh myself on some OG bants 🤣

MTN may still have another FX loss in Q1 result, the FY account used 900/$, and now $ is above N1,500.

It should be round 97 TPP units tnoo 1000 Transcorp plc

This !!!! is what most persons buying now don't know. The price will tank further when Q1 reports show. Q1 reporting exchange rate can't be less than 1$/1300 (i.e. another N400 FX drawdown).

The CFO even mentioned during his interview, that Telcos can't easily push down those costs to consumers in the manner they want; because of NCC regulations on pricing.

Why buy now, when you can buy it cheaper. Be ready to average down if you've already bought.

I intend buying it, but the moment the CFO mentioned that, it is a caution for me. He even said govt need to safe the FX as the main solution because MTN is efficient in their operations.

According to the CFO interview, high FX rate was not what culminated into MTN 2023 loss. Rather, it was instability in exchange rate which means the company financial plan was distorted because the naira devaluation happened in the middle of the year 2023.

He said if the FX rate is fixed eventhough high, the company can do its plan with it and make profit.

I believe MTN will factor in FX volatility in their 2024 business plan and cash flow because of its awareness. The policy came mid 2023 and distrupted many business plans

So MTN might most likely have a positive Q1 result cos its business plan would have factored in FX volatility and every business plans to profit.

A few metrics that stood out to me about the Afriprud result:

-Very marginal decrease in gross earnings, (greater chunk contributed by non-operating income as in the previous year)
-Free cash flow per share: N2.09k (represents a marginal increase)
-EPS: 48k from 75k
-Cash reserve per share: N2.63k from N0.425k
-An increase in foreign portfolios by 3-fold both in investment size and portfolio counts.

Paying 45k seems very affordable and responsible of the management.
It is good to see a not-so-damaging direct effect of forex. The company has also mastered how to grow its non-operating income.
This is me just trying to see the positives in the midst of reds and negative summaries.

The range of 160-180 is where I will be looking to average down if I have any interest in MTN’s recovery.

On the Macro side, we wait for Q1 results at least before committing reasonable Afolabi units.

P.S.; NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. Do your Research!

With this shareholding structure, should TRANSCORP be worth less than 50% of TRANSPOWER?

This assumes TransAfamPower does not exist and neither does the other subsidiaries of Transcorp.

In 2021 Transpower delivered half of the power contributions to Transcorp PLC profit before tax. The other half must have come from TransAfamPower.

Transcorp Plc has hidden values shocked.

Not a buy advice. Do your DD.

The qualification date for salt simply means that there won't be any merger before May, why tie down your capital when you can sell now and come back in May?
