The minimum wage is not the issue, the main issue is that Nigeria is not producing enough for export and we import irrelevant things. Let there be a high tariff on things such as tvs, cars, phones and encourage the companies to assemble here if they want to sell cheap and government should invest in farming settlements
Your idea would have made sense if the environment here was conducive for business to thrive!
Let me ask you....
Does Nigeria have a dependable and consistent power supply?
Is Nigeria secured?
Do we have a unified tax regime?
Is transportation cost reduced?
Is there accessible roads from rural to urban areas?

Today, most dedicated manufacturers in Nigeria are either winding up or barely managing to survive because of the extremely high cost of production!
Now your proposal is to bring them here to lose their money?
We are an import dependent country....if you inflate taxes of those imported products like TV,phones and cars.....it's the consumers not the importers that will suffer the increase!

even with that, some state governors still didn't pay the 30K minimum wage. So this one will be something else.
Even if it's 50-60k those governors still will not pay!
However,it's must be done because the average worker in Nigeria is going through pain due to the economic crisis!

This crop of NLC representative are too weakling. N500k minimum wage? Hahaha!!! Ajaero is a joker, someone who could not complete 2days strike. I pity many workers under the umbrella of NLC. YOU PEOPLE ARE ON A LONG ROPE.

Do you know how much he gets with each unproductive meetings, i seconded you , im just stating that each meeting is productive for him and his small circle of cabals that is why he keeps doing that weak protest so people wont say he don collect money.

It has to be because he's not making sense with these min wage negotiations.

100k ke? Ajaero and his boys lack negotiation skill. I pity the workers.

Hmmm...... 500k is not realistic. Even 300k is not. As a business Man, I can't increase a 33k salary to a 500k salary at once. I can do 33k to 60k then to 100k then to 150k then to 200k while looking at how the company has grown in profit.

Make we talk true, from 33k to 300k/500k is unrealistic.
But fuel pump price from 185naira to 700naira, cement frm 4k to 11k, bread from 400 to 1500, etc are all realistic bah?!

The FG needs to enforce population control tbh. No be say the over bloated population dey productive self. I don't know what a man is doing with 4 kids. Mtchew. Anyone who is reckless with having too many children should go pick up 2 or more jobs. That's how it's done in sane climes.

Lol very funny.

4 kids is still cool na...It's those that have 7-8 kids but don't have idea how to take care of them that vexes me.

This crop of NLC leadership is a disgrace and an embarrassment. Adams Aliyu Oshiomole still remains the best NLC president this country ever had.

Joe Olenyo turned the negotiations to circus. No government would respect and take you serious with that #1m min wage demand. The dude just turned the whole thing to Fuji House of Commotions. Baba Sala would have been a better fit as NLC president. Even the workers he leads don't take him serious again and it's no surprise they don't follow him when he declares his useless protests.

When Tinubu lashed at the NLC leadership at the Red Line launch events, I already knew the current NLC leadership needs to be overhauled. Tinubu who is widely known to be diplomatic saying all that only means one thing - the NLC leadership are being unreasonable.

Now, Joe is readjusting his demand to #500k, another unrealistic min wage. Time is going fgs. NLC is allowing the FG too much breathing space. They will bring them to the table for another round of unproductive negotiations. Every right thinking Nigeria esp the workers already know it's unrealistic, so they don't expect anything to come out of it. Probably by July or Aug, Joe will reduce to #300k; then another round of negotiatioms that will last months.

The NLC should impeach Joe before it's too late. The man is only using their head to play ludo.
thoughtfully stated but what you failed to understand is that the government and organised Labour are all in this together. They are having a huge laugh over the planned proposal cum expectation.

Labour Union is not fighting for Nigerians who are unemployed and those working in the private sector. They are only fighting for the government workers alone. The 25 and 35k cash palliatives have only been given the federal government workers and few state workers only.Nothing is given to the unemployed and those working in the private sector as they are not vulnerables.
you have said it all and instead to do realistic fights they ar chasin shadows som of them de play politics..

it's high time we do hourly wages that way people don't even need to work all hours per day... 400-500 Naira per hour minimum is ok...

All this things you mentioned are nothing, if not for corruption. For power supply maybe the government can take a cue from the Edo state govt. Who has a dedicated power plant for industries in the state giving 24hours power supply separate from the national gride.

What does it take to have a cargo train from agrarian states to industrial state, nothing if not for corruption.

Compared to other countries the cost of transportation in Nigeria its still low that is not an issue

All that you have said still falls back on the FG to assume their responsibility!
The Edo electricity power system you talked about was before now channeled to the national grid which implied that electricity didn't reach everywhere in Edo and still hasn't reach everywhere in Edo state because I have friends there!
The point I am making is that it will be counterproductive and illogical to increase taxes on imported products when we do not even have a conducive environment or even the facilities to produce what we basically consume!
Fix the problems and companies will flick Nigeria!
When you say Nigeria's transportation is low in comparison to other countries, are you using their currency to compare with our currency or are you using the value of our currency in Nigeria!
I have heard this narrative in the pms sales and it makes no sense!
Unless you are not in Nigeria .....Transport cost in Nigeria is very expensive!

don't face the reality then. Keep dreaming. You think they will achieve that? Some states couldn't pay the present minimum wage which is ordinary 30k .
