Sad News: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said overseas remittances into the country rose to $1.3 billion in February 2024 compared to $300 million in the preceding month. Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, the Bank’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, disclosed in a press briefing in Abuja. The CBN also reported a significant rise in foreign inflows in February 2024, driven by higher remittance payments from Nigerians living abroad and a spike in the purchase of naira assets by foreign portfolio investors. She noted that foreign investors purchased over $1 billion of Nigerian assets last month, with the total portfolio flows for the early part of 2024 reaching at least $2.3 billion, compared to the $3.9 billion recorded for the whole year in 2023. |

BlueRayDick: While the parents have their own shortcomings but you sef go re-born yourself or retrain yourself. A man over 60yrs cant be blaming his parents anymore. I had some friends and family that they were not taught Yoruba growing up, Their parents maybe thought it will affect their English, but as adults now they all speak it There are people born abroad who dey scatter their native language anyhow. Not speaking your native tongue probably shows you don't care for it much or don't want to be associated with it until it became politically relevant. Esan no good for language, No good for association but time to collect ticket you remember them It just feels odd you going to your people and speaking to them in another language. In many families its even considered rude to try speak to your aunties and uncles in English |
