You lots just like talking nonsense and spreading lies .

LASG has been challenging those that their buildings were marked for demolition to produce their approval from the LASG but so far I have not seen any of them rising up to the challenge.

If you have an authentic approval for your building the government will pay you compensation and you have a choice to sue if you're not satisfied with the compensation offered.

So says a poor pauper who can't afford house rent talk more of a house.
There is no way an illegal unapproved structures in their hundreds will get to completion stage if they weren't approved by authorities.
It's obvious you are mannerless. I didn't insult you, why are you very rude. Lack of home training.
By the way, Lagos State have challenged anybody with duly approved plans should come up

In every demolition under the pretext of whatever, compensation is always a priority. But in this case compensation is a tribal reaction due to the electoral loss of the Tinubu in the Lagoon

Where were you when Soludo and Mbah were demolishing houses?

Lagos will demolish and you can go kill yourself if you don't like it.

This is madness. Who approved the buildings in the first place.
Tokunbo wahab is doing too much and causing people pain in Lagos lately.
Yes lots of building are sitting on waterways but who approved them for the developers.
Those responsible should be made to go through what innocent tenants and house owners are going through.
It's a criminal act as no official will get away for approving a building sitting on waterways in sane climes.
It's practically impossible for those house owner to get justice or compensation.

All the people whose houses were demolished in Lagos, none of them had ever come up with a building plan.

Anyone who builds houses in Lagos without building plan will have his house demolished whether you crybabies like it or not.

To be clear, if I catch any Igbo man building without approval, I will get his house demolished. Carry your madness to your region.

Show us one person who had his house demolished but has building approval from the state.

very valid points raised. there is a Lagos state agency that goes around Lagos collecting money from builders when these houses are at inception in the name of building plan.

Most of these houses you see have no papers. Let them sue the government. No proper documentation on the land, no proper verifications of the lands, no proper approvals.

If you see some so called housing estates with less than 5 meters road network in between them, you will shake your head. Creating all manners of future slums and squatters that will be worse than makoko .

Quote me. No single professional working on most sites.. all are quacks. Even the little ones working there have been reduced to beggers and eye service guys. Everyone is running after money, money and money

Let the government mandate only appropriate professionals to take up building construction works in Lagos so that people can be held accountable if anything goes wrong.

Mind you demolition doesn't occur in a day, they would have been given abatement notice ; a window to realign their documentations before proper demolition is approved. But they still prefer to patronize those quacks that will tell them that , let us settle them. If you're on your right , or you do the right thing , you don't need to settle anyone.. and if you have to do. It should be a gift that has nothing to do with proper approvals and permits

How can 2 floors of a building be constructed by a caretaker , uneducated in any construction field and the building have failed integrity test even before the last floor is put up. If you know you know.

Abeg shift

but where was the LAGOS STATE BUILDING CONTROL AGENCY when the houses were being built?

am very certain that the houses where painted with red paint during the inception of the building.

if the owner of the building didnt provide a building plan, why was the building not stopped as threatened by LASBCA?

did they collect money and allowed the building to be finished?

how will you catch any igbo man without building plan?

And you think the person who built that massive edifice didnt know

1. He didn't have papers and was "omonilised"?

2. Doesn't know his way to a court?

All this hue and cries is all waste of time! We just capitalise on the anyhowness of the country to do anyhow and when some semblance of sanity is to be enforced we see videos loke this where we curry public sympathy!!

We'll always want to live in well planned environment that looks like Vegas, but at any given point, we'll rush to cluster houses like rats.

Go get the damn approval and do the right thing. Nigerians are naturally chaotic, noisy, uncivilised and unplanned people. The beautiful pedestrian and green areas/trees over here has been taken over by street traders.

I really think this ur statement is heartless. Let's even assume they didn't get proper approvals, could the building plan not be regularised? Or owners fined, rather than destroying this beautiful houses in this economy.... do they know the cost of building materials now? And I sincerely don't think those houses are In flood plains....all I'm saying in essence is Govt should put some human face to implementation of policy

In mid Feb, I just reported one Igbo man constructing an unapproved hotel encroaching on road and setback in a certain part of Lagos. Wrote the petition and submitted it. They have already marked it "Total removal" with red paint.
Do you know what that means?

A LASBCA officer told me that a mighty structure close to my region is not approved, and doesn't have any document. Many constructions are not approved.
