Weak move! That is telling the owners that there will be no consequences for their negative behaviours. You can take actions that'll hurt the entire country and NOTHING will happen to you. That there is no consequences for doing somethin in illegal in Nigeria. Weak! We coddle criminals in Nigeria and that's why we have epidemic of crimes. Everybody is looking to commit crimes because nobody is punishing them. Imagine removing 120 truckloads of food from a starving nation and still getting a pat on the back for your sabotage. What would have been better instead is to take the food to the market and sell them at fair market prices and give the proceeds to sensible and conscientious farmers. Not these criminals. |

Big money for the Custom guys. I am sure they will return only 10percent to each owner, and dispose the rest. |

Namaster:What exactly was "illegal" in the owners of these goods disposing of them as they pleased? What makes them "criminals" for deciding to sell what they paid for with their own hard-earned money wherever they could get the best prices? If anyone is a "criminal" here, it is you, for thinking that your own financial difficulties justifies the seizure of other people's property for your benefit. It's not enough that the business owners already contribute to the nation by paying a massive share of the taxes (far more than the likes of you will ever pay), or that it's due to their risk-taking and foresight that you have access to markets full of goods from around the world, despite Nigeria's terrible transport infrastructure and rampant insecurity. No, they must voluntarily beggar themselves so you can have a few cheap meals, or else in your greed-addled mind they must be "criminals". If you think it's easy as all that to run any kind of business in Nigeria, let alone a commodity business easily subject to theft, spoilage and adverse price movements, I suggest you start up your own business and feed yourself, rather than bad-mouthing others for not lining up to cut their own necks on your behalf. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Getting a court order for this will have been more diplomatic, not just rubbish the custom official efforts. Nigerian with bad mouth must have even threatened them to facilitate their removal from office. Which will killed the spirit of patriotic officers. |

Another mumu and myopic move So why were the golds seized before, are they contraband, sub standard or defective. If these are the reasons the goods were seized before so why ask it to be returned back to the owners Caveat: I didn’t bother to read the article |

They said the reason we don't have forex is because we don't produce anything. Now people are trying to export but government is saying no because we don't even have enough to sustain ourselves. The problem with Nigeria is you can understand it, you can solve string theory 1 Like |
