SYSTEM SABOTAGE: SHIRORO-KATAMPE TRANSMISSION LINE VANDALIZED

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reports that one of its critical infrastructures, the Shiroro-Katampe 330kV transmission line, has been vandalized, making the fifth such incident within February and March of this year.

At approximately 9am this morning, the Shiroro-Katampe transmission line experienced a trip. Following initial investigations, TCN engineers attempted to restore operation but were unsuccessful. Subsequently, efforts were made to identify the fault location. Hence, linesmen were dispatched to physically patrol the suspected area.

During the fault tracing process, vigilante team leaders in the vicinity notified TCN linesmen of vandalism along the Shiroro-Katampe transmission line. TCN personnel confirmed the vandalisation of the 330kV Shiroro-Katampe transmission line 1, from Towers 244 to 245, and the conductors stolen.

TCN is currently mobilizing for conductor replacement, pending completion of security operations at the site. Nevertheless, the second line remains fully operational, in conjunction with the Gwagwalada 330kV line serving the Kukwaba-Apo axis.

Also, the wheeling capacity of TCN towards Abuja and environs would be enhanced by the Lokoja - Gwagwalada 330kV transmission line. TCN is working hard to minimise the adverse effect of these acts of sabotage on bulk power supply to Abuja and environs.

This incident adds to a series of vandalism incidents recorded by TCN in February 2024, including the destruction of Tower 70 along the Gwagwalada-Katampe transmission line on February 26, 2024. Other incidents include the vandalism of towers 377 and 378 along the Gombe-Damaturu 330kV transmission line on February 23, 2024, and the attack on towers 145 to 149 and 201 to 218 along the Owerri-Ahoda 132kV transmission line on February 15, 2024. Additionally, on February 1, 2024, Tower number 388 along the Jos-Bauchi 132kV single circuit transmission line collapsed due to vandalism.

Hehehe.

Nigerians are funny people. You vandalize power equipments and turn around to complain about power outage grin tongue.

The government should treat the people that buy such items more like terrorists. They must be made to face hash treatment,to stand as a deterrent to others.

My fear is if the government or the oga's at the top are not even responsible for these.

They send their boys to vandalize, then bring in the same items as the new ones grin.

It's not hardship. Was there no hardship during Mr Buhari's government.

These are most likely sponsored attacks.

Certain elements trying to undermine the government.

If certain people can't control a Southern president, they try and create chaos.

Government should shut down any community that trades in some kind of products high powered electrical part and give liscence to specific people to only sell this type of electrical materials

If you are caught selling high powered electrical material without liscence you’ll go to jail straight up

.............Do you have enough market for rhinestones pattern board? Waybill is too much and not allowing you to place orders for stone pattern board as frequent as you would like to?
If you have a working Laser Cutting Machine you can make your own stone Board and supply your vicinity. Just ask me "How" and remember to come with a lot of dollars for the training and all contacts instrumental to your rhinestones template journey.

These are terrorists not vandals, which vandal would take the stress of bringing down high tension equipment and not steal the cables and others parts there?

The government is the one downplaying insecurity and not tackling it as they should, look at the write up where they are calling terrorists vandals.....

Nigerians are extremely creative when destroying things, scamming or cheating, but give us something worthy of note to do, suddenly we come up with truck load of excuses.

If this trend is not stopped soon, expect other reasons to also copy it and even become better at it.

Nigeria needs a total change in mindset.

There are 5-plausible groups that may be behind this upsurge in Power lines vandalism...

1. Big Generator Merchants/Importers
2. Power companies repair and maintenance contractors
3. Diesel importers (Power supply is inversely proportional to diesel consumption).
4. Internal sabotage for the purpose of inflating budgetary allocation/contracts
5. Political-sponsored vandals trying to distract the present government, paint them in bad light or reduce their current momentum.

Bandits and terrorist acting on their own have nothing to gain sabotaging powerlines; as it doesn't get them the needed attention or financial gain.

Why are Nigerians so wicked to themselves like this? who are the saboteurs? Who are the people contributing to the daily woes of Nigerians? Who are the people in government supporting these economic saboteurs? Government at all levels must, as a matter of urgency, improve security all over Nigeria. Let the national assembly accelerate the passage of the state police so that security of property and the citizens can be assured.

Nigeria

For the second time, Sahara Reports claimed that the first vandal accident was a terrorist bombing, which the media tried to suppress since it happened in the FCT. Now, we're experiencing this again!

Security agencies need to investigate the incidents and determine who's behind them.

Which group of terrorists specializes in vandalizing power lines?

This is becoming a norm since Tinubu became our president.

It's very hard to find a patriotic Nigerian, how could a sane mind destroy critical national infrastructure.

Why can't they have security personal stationed at such facilities
