Who is Oseloka Obaze?

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Peter Obi's structure (this post is from November 2022).

As I said, there are many prominent politicians that have defected to the Labour Party since Peter Obi moved there. Some of them have moved to the Labour Party because they are part of Peter Obi's structure, some moved because, although they are not part of Peter Obi's structure, they believe in his message, some moved to the Labour Party because they see an opportunity to build structures in a smaller party (something that they could not do in their previous parties) and some have moved because they lost out in the politics of their previous parties.

I will begin with the people that I mentioned in my previous posts. These are people that are part of Peter Obi's structure.

Oseloka Obaze worked as a diplomat in the Nigerian Foreign Service from 1982 till 1991. He then worked for the United Nations from 1991 till 2012. He was appointed secretary to the Anambra State Government by Governor Peter Obi in 2012. He was the PDP candidate in the Anambra governorship elections in 2017 and Peter Obi campaigned heavily for him.

Valentine Ozigbo is a former banker who was made CEO of Transcorp Hotels PLC and then CEO of the Transcorp Group. He was the PDP candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship elections and Peter Obi campaigned heavily for him.


Valentine Obienyem is a lawyer and a journalist who has served as special assistant to many ministers and heads of government agencies. He was special assistant on new media to Governor Peter Obi

These others are not part of Peter Obi's structure, but they have defected to the Labour Party.


Dr Doyin Okupe: was a House of Representatives candidate of the NPN in 1983. He was the national publicity secretary of the NRC in the early 1990s. He was a media assistant to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. He was an Ogun State governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP. In fact, he was a presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP until a few months ago when he defected to the Labour Party and became the director general of Peter Obi's campaign organisation.


The guy asked for 5 people that have defected to the Labour Party and who have also previously won elections. Here they are.


Victor Umeh was a member of the PDP at the beginning of the 4th Republic, but he left the PDP in 2001 to take up positions in the APGA. He held various positions in APGA and rose to become the national chairman of the party. He was national chairman of APGA when Peter Obi became governor of Anambra State. In fact, it was during his tenure that the party had two governors, Peter Obi of Anambra and Rochas Okorocha of Imo. He was also a member of the 2014 National Conference.

He left the chairmanship of APGA in 2015 and in 2018 he was elected and sworn in as the senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District.

Victor Umeh is currently the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 Anambra Central senatorial election.


Tony Nwoye is a medical doctor who was Anambra State chairman of the PDP. He was elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent Anambra East/West constituency in 2011. He was the PDP candidate in the 2013 Anambra governorship election and was also the APC candidate in the 2017 Anambra governorship election.

Dr Tony Nwoye is currently the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 Anambra North senatorial election.

Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi was once a member of APGA and the PDP. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2015 to represent Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Federal Constituency. He was elected to the Senate in 2019 to represent Imo East Senatorial District. He is currently the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 Imo East senatorial election.


Daniel Nanbol is the member of the Plateau State House of Assembly representing Langtang North Central district. He has also defected to the Labour Party.

George Ozodinobi Ibezimako was elected to represent Njikoka/Anaocha/Dunukofia Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives on the platform of APGA in 2003. He was an aspirant for the same position on the platform of the PDP just a few months ago. He resigned from the PDP and defected to the Labour Party and is currently the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 election for the same post.
