obynocute: Don't get me wrong ooo.... International drivers licence is used abroad within the first one year of arrival for jobs that involve driving But road safety will likely ask for ur local license before issuing u international license.. 3 Likes |

Hello Good Nairalanders, I am planning to buy a ticket for one of my siblings to start a healthcare job in the UK. I am currently not in Nigeria. A copy of the VISA he showed me showed a COS with duration of 3 months on the VISA. Can I buy a one-way ticket for my sibling or should it be a return ticket? Thanks. |
Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by Samguine: 10:38pm On Mar 10 |
Physicist: To clarify; the visa is for 3 months or the COS is for 3 months? |
Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by Childofgrace18: 10:40pm On Mar 10 |
Physicist: I doubt it you ever gotten a visa before talk more of travelling out of the country. Some people will just come to social media to display ignorance. Which UK visa is three months? Let me educate you, the three months you saw in the visa is the validity of the visa if she didn't use it for three months. I think you should do well and being real because anyone who have been issued a visa before talk more of travelling will know this simple thing in a visa. For health care, it will either be 3years or 5years depending on the offer of employment. Let's try to be real in this space so that people can advise you genuinely. 1 Like |

I saw SKILLED worker MIGRANT in the VISA he sent to me. The VISA seems genuine. He applied by himself at the UK embassy. He did not use any Agency because of fear of 419 or scam . Migrant means he has permanent stay. That is my understanding. I am currently in the USA. My understanding is that he needs to use the COS within 3 months. |
Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by Childofgrace18: 10:42pm On Mar 10 |
Samguine: He is one of those that form what they aren't on social media. He is talking about the validity of visa if not used which is common in all visas. Someone who claimed to be outside the country should know this little information. But believe many people, they will be forming pouch on social media. But this one na something else. |
Re: UK Skilled Worker Visa / Health And Care Worker Visa / Qualified Teacher Route by Childofgrace18: 10:47pm On Mar 10 |
Physicist: Oga you aren't in the USA, I put it to you. We should stop forming what we aren't on social media. All visa has 3months validity stamped in the "vignette" and someone who claimed to have had a visa before talk more of being in the USA will not be asking such questions. I rest my case. 1 Like |

Childofgrace18: I am not only in the USA. I am also a United States Citizen. I do not need a VISA to visit many countries. Your comment shows that you have never lived in a developed country for an extended period of time. I have lived about 70% of my adult life (about 20 years) in developed countries. There are many of my friends who live in Nigeria and only come to visit USA and other countries. Many of my friends that live in Nigeria are financially better than me. There are homeless and poor people in USA and UK. I am not financially poor in any way. With the exchange rate of US Dollar to Naira, I am a billionaire in Naira. You need less than US$1 Million Dollar to become a billionaire in Naira. There are many Nigerians outside the country who are billionaires in Naira. Some of these Nigerians see themselves as Middle Class in the countries they live. Some houses in Nigeria cost more than 1 billion Naira. I see no reason to brag on social media. In my visit to the UK about 20 year ago, I was a given a student VISA of 12 months or, 15 months or 18 months for an M.Sc program. I cannot remember the exact duration. That was why I was surprised to see 3 months on my sibling VISA/COS. I have searched on the internet and I could see UK D Skilled VISA Migrant with duration of 3 months. I have visited different countries. I was never given a VISA less than 6 months even on a tourist or business visa. That was the reason I was surprised about the 3 months COS/VISA on my brother passport. The links below show that people also struggle financially in the United States. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/03/i-became-a-cab-driver-to-feed-my-family-in-us-actor-femi-brainard/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/08/failed-movie-gigs-turned-me-to-cab-driver-in-u-s-nollywood-actor-joseph-benjamin/ 6 Likes |

Physicist: You're mixing things up. Visa is different from CoS. Your sibling applied for skilled worker visa, they'll be issued a 90 days visa, regardless of the numbers of years on the CoS. When they get to the UK, they'll now pickup their BRP that has the durations /years on the CoS. And yes, you can get them a one way tkt, If they're a frequent flyer. NIS are bunch of parasites that feeds on ignorance. 4 Likes |

Childofgrace18: Calm down Oga. Not all countries use vignette or resident cards. Some put the entire duration of the visa as stamps on passports. The fact he's not used to the 3 months vignette doesn't mean he's lying. Just focus on the question if you want to help please. 9 Likes |

Physicist: That's just the vignette. He'd get a resident card when he arrives in the UK and yes you can book one way ticket for his flight. 3 Likes |

Please I’ll need clarity on these Scenario 1: a dependant working with a dependant visa for years with an organization, will the new visa rule apply to them if they decide to switch to a Saw visa even after working with this organization for years Scenario 2: for a skilled worker extending their visa, will the new visa salary threshold apply to them? Thank you |
