What's your problem with Mr President? Ask your popsy his salary in 1975. Did you think 1,800 that time easy to get?

Atiku did not score more than Obi.

Obi won the election with Atiku as runner-up.

But official results showed Atiku had more votes than Obi.

Did Atiku also rigged the election?

Atiku Abubakar (PDP)

The same bread was 50 kobo in 1978 , 200 in 1998, therefore Jona failed.

Wrong price, My T.fare from Ojota to Zuba 1998 was N150, so loaf of bread in 1998 cannot be 200. As at 2012, 2013 chunkies and Eco bakery sell their biggest loaf for 200, 250. Butterfield was about 250. I doubt if mama Anayo biggest loaf was up to 50 Kobo in 1978. i used to share 20kobo bread with my bother then. cool grin grin grin

Those blaming APC for the woes of the country should direct their anger towards Peter Obi. That man is the reason why everyone is suffering currently. Nigerians were fed up with Buhari's ineptitude coupled with the naira scarcity and were ready to sack APC from leadership. Peter Obi made sure APC remained by splitting the votes he and Atiku should have jointly gotten from nigerians hereby making Tinubu to emerge as President. Peter Obi is the reason why many families are going to bed hungry. That Obidient movement was started to ensure APC remained in power. Governor Soludo warned but was insulted by Obidients. See where we are today
We core PDP supporters never wanted Atiku to be the presidential flagbearer. So relax your energy bro.

A brand new Toyota Camry went for 9-10million in 2014.

Someone earning 18k minimum wage at 2014 will take 46yrs to pay for one.

You have not seen magic yet in Nigeria. Worst woe is yet to come, as yall want to wait and sit on the fence leaving your faith in the hands of uncaring thieving politicians and religiously ungodly people. The call to dissolve an evil empire called Nigeria always fall on deaf ears. Enjoy the anticidence in all its ramifications. Unless from today yall start saying BREAK NIGERIA NOW, BEFORE IT BREAK US!

You are actually right... merely adjusting it with minimum wage shows that things were a lot better in 1975.

mrvitalis:

Stop talking rubbish

At minimum wage you need 2 years salary to buy a brand new car ; #80 x24 =1920

At minimum wage today you would need 50 years salary minimum to buy a brand new car of same class

Least brand new car now is minimum $20k that's 30 million

That's 1000 x minimum wage..... That's 83 years

You need to work and retire at from 25 to 60
3 and half times to achieve same

Stop supporting rubbish

Let us do the analysis again:

At minimum wage in 1975 you need 25 months salary to buy a brand new car ; N60 x25 =N1,500

At minimum wage today (2024) you would need 233.33 months salary (19.4 years) minimum to buy a brand new car of same class (Innoson's cheapest car); N30,000 x 233.33 = N7,000,000

The cheapest brand new car now is minimum 7 million Naira (N7,000,000)

That's 233.33 x minimum wage..... That's 19.4 years

In 1975, you need to work for 25 months without touching your minimum wage salary to buy a Peugeot 504
In 2024, you need to work for 233 months without touching your minimum wage salary to buy Innoson's cheapest car.

Things were definitely so much better in 1975 than in 2024.

jazzman7711:

I actually cross-checked, and the minimum wage in Nigeria was 60 naira in 1975.

https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=21105454922e231e&rlz=1CDGOYI_enGB1064GB1071&hl=en-GB&sxsrf=ACQVn08At-xjP-VLvfgv3jktgzXsWvcBGg:1710330930394&q=Nigerian+minimum+wage+in+1975+per+month&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjWtbecl_GEAxWHQ0EAHacdA9cQ1QJ6BAgxEAI&biw=375&bih=553&dpr=2

Also, that Peugeot 504 was made in Nigeria.

Thatā€™s why it cost only 1,500 naira.

Innosonā€™s cheapest car cost around 7 million naira, so your 30 million naira figure for a brand new car is wrong and dishonest.

You need to apologise to forumers for your disinformation.

I used the very same figure that he used to try to downplay your analysis and still proved that life was still so much better in 1975 to disprove his claim that things are better now than in 1975.

Whatever!

Hmmm.

That N1,500 was an annual salary of a senior civil servant. Before you get up to that amount to buy that car you go hear am.

In other news, APC has destroyed this country completely.

So is the annual salary of a civil servant at current time up to the cost of a brand new car??

We know there are inflationary effects, but the situation is more dire in our own case.
