Police return N9.9million to rightful owner after it was mistakenly transferred to a POS operator

The Kano State Police says it has handed over about N9.9 million wrongly transferred to a POS operator, to the rightful owner in Dawanau Grain International market in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the State.

The Command disclosed this in a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa in Kano on Thursday, March 14. He said a POS operator reported to the Police that he realized that one of his customers who is yet to be identified, wrongly transferred N10 million instead of N10,000.

Kiyawa explained that on receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, directed a discreet investigation to identify the rightful owner in order to return the money to him.

He said that it took the Police investigation team three months before identifying the original owner of the huge amount.

“On March 14, the investigation was concluded sequel to the uncovering of the identity of the rightful owner, who happened to be a trader at the famous Dawanau Grains Market located in Dawakin Tofa. The owner (name withheld) commended the POS operator and the Police for their efforts and out of joy he presented a cash gift of N500,000 to the POS operator. He also appreciated the commissioner for the show of honesty and integrity by the police, saying this was a demonstration of exemplary leadership,“ he said.

The real amazing thing about this story is that 10 million naira left somebody's account and he did not even notice at all sef until they came to tell him.

Why did the man go to Pos? Why not bank? And yet he didn't notice,why? He is a suspect.
But for the police man,he just made a good leader by showing example

Some people are really honest in this country o ...they don't take what does not belongs to them .. economy or no economy... I hope the Kano State Governor name something important after him like a road or build a Masjid in his name if he is a Moslem.

Actually, the process isn't really complicated just that our policemen are too lazy. Merely taking a police report to the bank, the bank will print the utility bill the customer submitted which will probably display the address of the customer and also provide the phone number and emails. It's as easy as eating a banana

At least there are still honest people left in Nigeria.

That is the real tragedy that most people may not even notice
Three months to find the owner of an active bank account that is not even hiding.
I think the police may have done nothing, maybe just a few calls here and there and waited for it to take a natural cause (like don't worry, you don report, the owner go find am come, when he come we go call you) and collect 10%

It took 3months to locate him... Na that part I no understand

In this world, where almost all of our details are online, should it have taken that long?

Kudos to that POS operator... Me ma go don fear sef if I see such UNKNOWN alert,as I'm not in the league of those who believe in miracles alerts
