The military had vowed to arrest and bring to justice the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of the army personnel

The Nigerian Ministry Of Defence Headquarters, otherwise known as the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has dropped a cryptic message following the killing of 16 army personnel in a Delta Community.

The victims, belonging to the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, were killed in the Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

The slain officers were responding to a distress call to quel a communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities.

The deceased consisted of a Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and 12 soldiers.

In a post on its social media account on Sunday, March 17, 2024, the DHQ shared a message that seemed to have a hidden meaning.

"The Audacity," the post simply read with a dark love emoji.

At face value, the message may be considered harmless, but some citizens have expressed worries given the history of the military in reacting to similar incidents.

Meanwhile, Army said some suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings.

Also, 14 bodies of the slain army personnel have been recovered from the Delta community in the early hours of Saturday.

Some of the recovered bodies were said to have been severed, with some beheaded while others had their stomachs and hearts ripped off.

The bodies of a Commanding Officer and two majors were seen floating by the river bank at the NDDC jetty in the coastal Delta community as others were separated on land.

Pulse reported that the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has ordered a probe into the tragic incident to unmask the culprits.

But delta youths really had the audacity to massacre soldiers on peace mission.

This is why people should not tolerate and support criminals in their domain, they will later turn to monsters and bring unimaginable disaster to all and sundry, No development will come to such place as well

Rest in peace to our gallant soldiers and officers.

A whole Kaduna State where we have all major army, airforce, navy recruitment and study centres including the NDA,Fulani terrorists turned repentant bandits invaded the NDA and abducted army officers and killed some and nothing happened.
The same Kaduna State is where repentant bokoharam turned bandits kidnapped scores of school children undetected by the military.
The audacity.

People who cut more than 20 soldiers like suya are definitely prepared for anything that will come out. There are a lot of gun factories there and many youths there don’t have any job, so many of them are armed. The last time they did arms mop up was during the amnesty program under Jonathan. They willingly surrendered because Jonathan is their own and used oronto Douglas and co to make them surrender arms. The number of youths carrying arms today there is now even more than when Jonathan brought peace. Mobil oil and other multi nationals saw there was no hope and left, shell waited and saw who was announced as winner of 2023 elections and packed their bags too… Imagine yourself as a Nigerian soldier in a battalion of about 100 other soldiers walk into an ambush in the creek of 250 boys armed with guns. Do you think you can outgun your way out or come out of it alive that day? No you won’t, but you will witness your own death with your eyes hours before you die

HarryGleb:
When will the army revenge over the killings of their colleagues in the north or are they afraid of northerners?
When did that happen and what is the village name?
Note, there is no village called "the North".

If you are referring to bandits, they have no village, they are nomadic raiders who resides in the forest.
Even at that, there was a recent revenge drone strike on a Kaduna village.

If you are still in doubt go and read Amnesty International report about the Boko haram war.
The details are quite gory.
Whether in the North or South, the Nigerian army uses crude collective punishment methods
when on revenge mission.

I am not justifying it, just debunking the 'bias' narrative.

I don't think so. Nobody or community in Nigeria will want to incur the wrath of the Nigeria Armed Forces. This is not going to be about the Nigerian Army alone, even the DSS, police and other armed forces will be involved to get the alleged perpetrator of that dastardly attack. It's really heartbreaking and I have not stopped imagining why they murdered those soldiers. Ha! One soldier is enough problem let alone 16 with their Commander

Majority of the soldiers in the south are northern Muslims and see nothing wrong in attacking a whole Christian village for the slightest provocation

How important is this person that army sent over 16 soldiers including captains and majors to rescue

There are lots of questions begin for answers, however the action of the Felton youths is unacceptable

But the army should also Channel this same energy towards bandits and boko haram

Nigerian Navy are constantly dropping bombs on terrorists/bandits, we have seen them a few times drop bombs on civilians mistaken for bandits. you guys should stop capping bullshit here. Army would level that community in delta.
