He is probably not fit to start that's why he is on the bench

Enough of the off-topic political discuss and derailing of the thread.

Keep the discussion on football.

Woah!!
This is a beautiful, beautiful take, so injuries can actually affect a player's playing time... A player can miss several games in a season and still be regarded as doing "exploits" wonderful!!

I hope you'll remember this when you judge Osimhen for not scoring 1 million goals with consistent consecutive alacrity consistency.

I hope you'll remember all these beautiful screenshots when you refer to Osimhen as essentially a "one season Wonder" soon.

When you remember Osimhen has scored only 11 serie A goals this season, I hope you'll remember that he did it in 17 games so far.. because he was *injured* !!!

Somebody essentially claimed that Fikayo Tomori has lost form and is no longer first choice.

I then explained that was completely untrue.

And your response is to bring in VO into the discussion to what purpose when there is no comparison or relevance.

Thank you for this, bro. I wonder why you didn't show up earlier. Anyways, better late than never.

I suggest monikers that have made openly tribalistic comments here be removed permanently.

One season wonder? You are actually dumb.

You are calling someone who has been scoring double digits goals since 2018/2019 season, a one season wonder? You are drunk

How many times has VO been among the top three highest goal scorers in his career ❓ and how many times has he been among the top 5 goal 🥅 scorers.

2022/23 season is the first time VO in his career has won the golden boot and been the highest goal scorer in a league.

For me the true test of world class quality is maintaining the top level season after season. It's one thing to get to the top another to stay there.

That in itself should be in the context of the quality of the league as well.

As I usually say, you have a special kind of reasoning. I remember mentioning that there were seasons when Mikel was coming off the bench even though he wasn't injured. That's not the hallmark of a superstar. If you were never a top 20 player for at least three times in your prime you were never a superstar. And that standard is very generous. What was Mikel's highest Fifa ranking? Not under 20 oooo.
TheGoodJoe:

All you typed here did not counter my point.

Mikel lasted long because he was a Superstar. He was underrated because of a lot people watch football for just flair and running. Mikel brought more to the team tactically that running and flair won't.

Mikel got dropped some times but in the end, he always made it back to the team. Even before his departure from Chelsea, Conte still wanted him back.

Mikel was a Superstar player.

Finito.

Of course he will leave the national team but folks will still say all sorts for a player who played his heart out for us. We are just an ungrateful people, imagine people still bashing mikel till today.

No be everything be Cho Cho Cho!

Ivan Toney:
Clubs: Northampton, Wigan, scunthrope, Barnsley, Peterborough United,Newcastle and Brentford.
Total games: 122, total goals: 67
*I used only his stat from Newcastle and Brentford*

Ollie Watkin:
Clubs: Exeter city and Weston-Super-Mare, Brentford and Aston villa.
Total games: 269, Total Goals: 105
*I used only his stats from Brentford and Aston villa*

Dominic Solanke:
Clubs: Vitesse, Liverpool, Bournemouth
Total games: 235, Total goals: 76

Marcus Rashford:
Club: Manchester United
Total games: 266, Total goals:83

Victor Osimhen:
Clubs: Wolfburg, Royal Charleroi, Lille, Napoli
Total games: 166, Total goals: 86

Victor Osimhen has more goals in less number of games than all of them except Ollie Watkins. #prolific

And he’s the only to have scored double digits since 2018 (6 years) playing top flight football. #consistency

Let’s not even talk about National team or his individual awards.

Wake up and stop the cap 🧢

What's the most competitive, fastest, physically taxing and best league in the world ❓

Football ⚽ is about progressive continuity and top quality consistent performances, in the HERE and NOW.

The context of this discussion started from the assertion that none of our players will make the England senior team. And that context is anchored ⚓ on the preferences of Southgate the manager.

We can say conclusively that scoring goals in the EPL is not the same as scoring goals in the Seria A, that's a fact. Seria A will go back to number 4 rating in Europe next season not one Seria A team in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Solanke was largely a disappointment for a long time, but the last two seasons he has upped his game and improved immensely. In the HERE and NOW Southgate would take him before VO, in addition he can play Wing with quality skills and technique.

Rashford has been consistently outstanding over a time his league goals are all in the EPL. He is tried and tested for England and Southgate. In addition he can play left and right Wings with skill and technique.

Ollie Watkins is now on another level of sharpness he also can play wing with skill and technique. He is number 2 and counting in the EPL with regards to VO over him it's a no contest.

This season VO has not played that many games his team Napoli is languishing and struggling near mid table. When your team is doing well you get accolades when it's doing bad you share in the condemnation.

Last season is not the basis for England senior team selection. Ask Grealish, Raheem, Henderson, it's always here and now not past form.

Ivan Toney is an enigma he has been indicted for illegal betting comes back and in a few games after 8 month's out he is showing his quality. But will Southgate choose VO over him l doubt.

Just checked the squad and I would choose VO before Anthony Gordon but then I would choose Solanke over them both.

Where is Porto now ❓

So we should say that Nottingham forest is better than Arsenal because they beat them in the FA cup. When they were in the Championship.

I remember a league two team beating Leicester city in the EPL in the FA cup.

He ought to have left long ago. He has also refused to improve in his offside issues.

Let him bear the consequences of his irrationality. I don't even pity him this time around.

He really needs to keep improving. More is expected from him including me.

Mikel was a defensive midfielder. So he will hardly get into glamorous lists. However, we are not judging Mikel from two seasons but his whole career.

Looking at his career and his number of appearances in a Superstar studded Chelsea, he was indeed a Superstar.
