Re: World's Smallest Power Inverter by adibo(m): 11:04am On Mar 30 |
Good morning, I want to get batteries for a 2.5kva or 1.5kva hybrid inverter. I just noticed that two 220ah batteries give a total of 440ah at 594k while four 150ah batteries gives a total of 600ah at 580k. By my local man logic, the 150ah option seems better to me cus I get about 160ah more battery capacity. Pls, those who are experts, is this my logic correct and can I go for this 150ah option? |
Re: World's Smallest Power Inverter by feflo: 2:23pm On Mar 31 |
adibo: As someone that has used, supplied and worked on almost all battery chemistries, I will advise that you look into going for LITHIUM, if of course money is not an issue. Now back to your question, I will assume it's a solar system because the inverter is hybrid and that it's a 2.5kva 24v inverter. 24vdc 220ah flooded Vs. 24v 300ah SMF The flooded has a total of 5.2kwh storage with 2.6kwh usable (50% DOD) while the SMF has a total of 7 2kwh with 3.6kwh usable. Flooded is more durable and can take or withstand large charging amps while large charging amps can damage SMF chemistry. 4pcs 150ah batteries requires more installation cables and increased point of failure than 2pcs 220ah batteries, it's also easier to upgrade to 48v system by adding to more batteries and get more watthrs than converting the 4pcs 150ah to 48v and get less watthrs or be forced to add four more batteries - more expenslve. Flooded requires periodic maintenance, the electrolyte is acidic and can damage stuffs if it spills, it's also not advised to be used in a room with little or no ventilation, outdoor use is best while SMF requires no maintenance and can be used indoors. Personally, if those are your options, I will advise 2pcs 220ah batteries Thanks. NB: If cost is your only consideration when buying batteries, I'm afraid you will not get premium battery and might spend more on the long run 1 Like |

feflo: Thanks a lot for the time you took to explain to me. Money is an issue sha, I heard lithium batteries are quite expensive. I plan on going for mercury batteries, heard they are quite good |
Re: World's Smallest Power Inverter by adibo(m): 6:59pm On Mar 31 |
Also, pls, are three 475w Jinko solar panels (1430w) not enough to charge two 220ah batteries? |
Re: World's Smallest Power Inverter by feflo: 8:39pm On Mar 31 |
adibo: Mercury batteries are good, all the attached jobs were done 2021/2022 and to my surprise, they are still working

feflo: The installer told me that they will not be able to efficiently charge my batteries, that I need at least four |
