I am asking an honest question ,why is this different from Shamima? They are both citizens, born here. No other ties to other countries.

There are a lot of differences in the legal bases for both cases (contending that this guy was never a citizen vs withdrawing the ISIS murderer's citizenship) but in reality the two crucial words that matter are - national security.

If you look closely you'll see very clearly how the crimes they were involved in are very different in terms of national security considerations, which is the factor the law says the Home Office must consider in such situations.

OMO overnight dates have reached July. I’ve sha gotten an appointment finally as well. Thanks again for this hack @samguine

Of course agents will buy everything and then start reselling at £200/appointment. So annoying! I wish I could report them and expose the whole racket. Similar to driving license tests dates.

Yeah... so I thought. But with the new category based entry draws (which includes STEM), age has much less of an effect on the outcome. Moreso the cutoff for the category based draw is falling round by round (which could change soon as folks become more aware). For those near the cutoff, provinces would usually send then letters inviting them for a nomination which if acceptedand followed through essentially guarantees a PR. With UK experience in IT, one should be able to apply for tech jobs there which would give a work permit.
Considering the time and effort put you have put in and you being certain you'd want to continue in IT, the UK should work out but if it doesn't, it's worth not being boxed into a corner.

I'm above 30 and applied mid-last year- got a provisional nomination within a month (didn't accept it) and was picked up by the next federal draw a month afterwards. A bit of a wait and many docs requested and have now been invited to send my passport in to conclude the process. Overall, it was pretty straightforward.

Alternative could be to apply for a visit visa and get a feel directly- long wait but their visas are valid for the duration of the passport. I.e 10yrs for a 10yr passport validity.

Many thanks for the indepth explanation

Could you share which programmes you got the invitation for? Both the initial one and the one you finally chose

Thanks

Yes, as it's only occupation codes 6145 and 6146 that are in the dependant ban. NHS nursing assistant roles have a different code.

So it means anyone with the occupation code 2212: Psychologists (Clinical psychologist. Educational psychologist, Forensic psychologist, Occupational psychologist, Psychologist. Psychometrist) can come over with their dependants when issued COS?

Correct. NHS roles, and all roles outside codes 6145 and 6146, are still allowed to bring in dependants as long as the normal conditions are met.

Shemima Begum went to join a Terrorist group. A group which not only hated the West and Western values but would like to obliterate the West.
Dmitry Lima ‘only’ dealt drugs & possessed a taser.

PS: With All these points of mine (and that of my co-debaters), I Honestly hope that you are convinced, and not confused that the difference between Ms Begum & Mr Lima’s cases is as clear as the differences between day & night.

Another question, if one is already sponsored (almost 2 years out of the 5yrs) under code 6145 and intends switching over to a role within code 2212 (Psychologist), will that 2 years be discontinued and have the person start afresh on a new 5 years count or that 2 years will be applicable and have 3 more years to complete it?

Hello. Is it possible to apply now and be waiting for biometrics dates even though I don’t have financial account ready for the application until April ending ? I am considering having a visa that will be valid through the Olympics period.

Thanks for sharing. For the new categories, any opportunities for supply chain professionals? Any links with more info as well?
Also how long is the Canada visitor visa process take? End-to-end, i.e. from submitting application to their request for your passport?

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html

This lists the professions eligible for a category based draw. Worth noting the job codes can be manytimes flexible. If you can't see yours but see related fields, it'd be worth reading the description of the job code to see what it actually entails.

With Canada, their process takes time. Visit visa took me about 8 months. Applied as a tourist, filled online form + showed funds and booked a refundable stay for my duration (cos I knew I'd need to cancel it later). After a month or 2, they asked for my biometrics. Took several more months for them to ask for my passport. I had just got a 10yr validity visa before commencing the process so overall multiple entry visit visa valid for 10yrs was worth the wait.

The way it works, is that while you are in the federal pool. Provinces skim through the pool offering provisional nominations to candidates they need. Sometimes, folks apply directly to the province for this. A candidate would then need to submit some documents to the province (plus pay a fee) but once the nomination letter is successful, they're pretty much guaranteed to be selected in the federal next draw cos the nomination is worth several hundred points. That candidate on arrival might need to be in that province for a period whereas if it was a direct federal draw (without need for a provisional nomination), such restrictions would not apply.

After applying, I got a nomination from Ontario. Kept it on hold as I felt I had the required scores to get in at the next federal draw.

Thanks for the link, very helpful. I’ve just seen an NOC I can use. However, I have a five months old EE profile with a different NOC. Can I update the NOC to this new category one? Or should I just delete the old profile and create a new one? I also saw there was a draw for 975 people recently (March 13), how often do they return to same NOC code after a draw? Thanks a lot. Canada PR process can be so complicated Mehn.

Go for Netherlands Schengen. They typically give one year multi-entry. It starts counting from your intended travel date. Some other countries only give 3months single entry.

Exactly at the bolded and this was what the argument on the previous thread was trying to highlight. It seems naturalising here you can still be classed as a second class/tier citizen despite being born here and its a dangerous precedence and also lopsided.

An excerpt from the news stated this

*Under changes brought in after Brexit, an EU national’s deportation, as with that of any other nationality, is deemed “conducive to the public good and in the public interest” if they have received a prison sentence of more than 12 months.*

Double standard if I say and they (HO) will keep trying their luck to target people that fits the bill above regardless of the crime and have parental origin or ties to other nationality.

If I am making millions, singing, sports person etc I am british born and will be proudly claimed but if otherwise chuck them away to the lesser country they have never even been to.

Not a fresh start. All the Tier2 visas count towards the 5years for ILR so you can use a year each with different sponsors and all will still count cumulately. PSW, visit, student et al don't count though.

I am not aware of other Schengen countries, but for Germany, you do not need to provide any financial capabilities until you go for your appointment. You will have to provide an account statement as recently as a week before your appointment. Also, you will provide flight tickets and accommodation details (if you don't have them, you must have sufficient funds in your account to cover them. Though it is advised you settle flight and accommodation before appointment) during your appointment.

Can't say for certain.
My first application was quickly declined as 'ineligible' cos I didn't factor in the complete number of hours I work hence was under the treshold. Quickly applied again and it wasn't an issue.

One thing to consider is your current score. With the category based gaining popularity the cutoff from the general pool has began to rise- from a low of 480 ish to now 520- 540. So from your score and being in the pool for months, you could guesstimate your chance of being selected in future general draws (moreso if the cutoff keeps rising).

You can also look back to see the timing of different categories and general ( https://www.canadavisa.com/express-entry-invitations-to-apply-issued.html ). For some, its roughly 2-3m I'd say. Overall, the process was rather detailed but I wouldn't call it complicated.

How true is this @Zahra?

Not true; people were making their own interpretations of the choice of words used but Gov.uk has clarified the rules which is consistent with the case worker guidance:

If you’re a care worker or senior care worker
Your partner and children cannot apply to join you or stay in the UK as your dependants unless you were employed as a care worker or senior care worker in the UK and on a Health and Care Worker visa before 11 March 2024 and one of the following is true:

you’re currently still on a Health and Care Worker visa
you’re extending your Health and Care Worker visa with your current employer
you’re changing to a new job within the same occupation code while on a Health and Care Worker visa

Allowances have been made for dependant childcare born in the UK to be added to the parent's visa. Any other dependants will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.

Not ignorance, we're all getting up to speed with the new policies.

Yes there will be salary thresholds in the NHS from April 4 as follows:

- Health and care visa jobs not on a pay scale or on the Immigration Salary list: £29,000 (currently £26,200)

- Health and care visa jobs on a pay scale or on the Immigration Salary list : £23,200 (currently £20,960)

- Skilled worker visa jobs : £38,700 (currently £26,200)

Note- the Immigration Salary list replaces the Shortage Occupation list from April 4
