While it is true that certified blue collar jobs can pay so high, the practitioners pay for it with their bodies. That is, they age quickly and face physical stress and damage, and even danger. If not, why do the upper middle class or elites don't have their children doing the same? French politicians will say the Ecole education system discriminates, yet send their children to Grand Ecoles. Some politicians in the US will say rather than do an MBA, enrol in an apprenticeship. Apprenticeship is not bad in its entirety; Germany, Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland are good examples of how they can provide a standard of living for its practitioners.

That said, for black African migrants, to fully benefit from apprenticeship, they must be certified, and people should stop converting pounds/dollars earnings to naira. You are not spending naira in the UK. So, stick to cost of living analysis in the UK. Don't say I am earning 500K naira daily because of kini kon. Your expenses are in pounds. Stick to it.

And US to US.

As a trucker in the UK, you won't make more than a doctor in the UK.
As a trucker in the US, you won't make more than a specialist doctor in the US.

And truck driving is not a menial job as well.

I highly very highly doubt an electrician would make more than a doctor in the USA. I work in a field where the best paid electricians work. I know what they earn and I also know what my doctor friends earn.

The lineman is not going to work 24 hours so stop calculate like a proper greedy Nigerian.

Even with OT, they would make around 150k to 200k a year, but their body go tell since it's not easy working outside in the elements (cold and heat). It's a very physically demanding job. They often need a truckers license since they transport transformers and electric poles in trucks, and even their bucket trucks. Plus being strong enough to use pipe wrench to turn bolts and nuts when impact drivers do not work. The work is more mechanical than electrical.

Without overtime, they make just over 100k which is around that $50/hour.

A family doctor would make around 220-240k a year without OT. A specialist doctor like a surgeon would make around $250k to $400k or more without OT.

In the UK or US, doctors don't earn minimum wage. They earn a professional wage which is equal to their skillset.

Before we hire a lineman at my place of work, they must be able to drive a Truck. Getting the training for truck license alone is pricey and alot still fail the driving exam. If they don't get the license within by the end of the probation period, they are let go.
