dupyshoo: Not also forgetting if he finds himself unemployed...... He would also be entitled to unemployment benefits (or whatever they call it now)........😁 He would now also be able to apply for a student loan (Incase he needs to return to university)........😁 I am sure many more benefits are now open ...... The question is ....... Would he want to collect pennies, when he can earn pounds........😜 13 Likes |

Good morning elders. Please help o! My letting agency has requested for my right to rent but the prompt I kept getting from the right to rent page is “ The details entered don't match our records”. I switched visas mid last year so I got a new BRP. Please has anyone had this issue before? |

dupyshoo: Lol what does shikini mean? Small? Don't forget housing benefit and being able to join the massive queue for a council house (although as Lexus said, settled migrants might quickly come to realise that it's not worth meeting the low income and homeless/vulnerable criteria that makes them eligible to claim) 1 Like |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by dupyshoo: 9:16am On Mar 24 |
Yes o. Shikini means very small. Did you say housing benefit with a household.income of 75k. No council will give you that option. In some council, people that their cases are very urgent (I.e. homeless), they are being moved from one hotel to another or shared flats as waiting list is crazily long. Why would he suggest himself and his family to that? Sincerely, public fund is for when you are down and very down. Zahra29: 2 Likes |

dupyshoo: I agree I just remembered during COVID when councils were scrambling to house homeless people temporarily in hotels and the like so as to reduce the spread. I imagine most are back on the streets now. I think the key "benefit" of settled status is freedom from immigration control and being able to work anywhere, be self employed etc without any restrictions, and able to provide fully for one's self and family cos most state benefits are shikini in comparison 6 Likes |

Lexusgs430: For those that have been clamouring for benefits/public funds, this is a wake up call. Even when you become a citizen, you might not still get it. Benefits are for the less privileged in the society. People taking advantage of it make themselves less privileged, do you want to do the same or take control of your finances? The earlier you remove your mind, the better. When it comes to giving and receiving, I'd rather be on the giving end than the receiving end. 17 Likes |

dupyshoo: Hello Dupyshoo Thank you for highlighting this. So, with 75k household income, and kids less than 10. One could get some shikini £ in child benefits? Even if it’s £10 per week, that is the cost of a couple of pints of milk. I no go mind. Anything that is ‘free’ go collect. This particular awoof no go ever run Belle. I have “over-invested” in this system abeg. 2 Likes |

BouharryArtikou: It's for children under 16 You should also look up child tax credits: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rates-and-allowances-tax-credits-child-benefit-and-guardians-allowance/tax-credits-child-benefit-and-guardians-allowance#childcare-element-of-working-tax-credit I think the idea is that child benefit goes to the child e.g. their savings or spent on tutors, extra curricular activities etc while the tax credits will be extra money to you. Note that there is a child benefit tax charge if one of the parents earns £50k or more. 6 Likes |

missjekyll:since when UK dey dash £160k to someone who didn't discover the cure for AIDS or invent a hydrogen bomb🤣🤣🤣 That is just one of the many silly blogs that have been reporting that false story since yesterday. I don't know if the imbe is in trouble with the UK popo, but I do know the UK doesn't dish out 160k GBP to asylum seekers, which was an element of the silly story. 3 Likes |

Good evening elders , my cousin needs urgent advice She got a job offer of net £2400 but fixed contract of 12months full time work Unfortunately she is housed by council (temporary accommodation) I have done the maths with her, if she takes the job her universal credit will be Nil/zero and it will definitely affect her housing benefit. Given the high cost of renting in London , what’s the best way forward? Is anyone working full time while undergoing housing crisis? Did they ask you to leave your temporary accommodation or start paying the rent? How did you manage? Will she still be eligible for permanent housing ? Any advice |

hustla: Band 8.5, lowest score was writing but that domain has less impact on the CRS score. Listening, Reading and Speaking have much higher impact than writing and is much easier getting the max band in those. IELTS is a favourable factor comparatively for we who primarily speak English. 1 Like 1 Share |

Treadway: The way this £160K don take catch fire for tiktok, everyone would be heading down to the UK, to claim asylum........ They would be shocked, when they are tucked away on a ship/or back to Rwanda ....... 😁 |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 7:43pm On Mar 24 |
Umeleeds: This is very simple...... Once she takes the job offer, she is no longer classed as a government pickin...... Her benefits stops + her housing benefit stops(she would join the hustle, like we fellow hustlers on the street).......😁 She would love the 12 months of earning her own money (but she would very quickly realise that, the cost of housing, no be beans) + other related cost of living expenses..... What happens to her after 12 months..... This is the koko....... 😊 Once she leaves that temporary accommodation, she returns to the back of the queue...... 👌 Does she have a child or classed as a vulnerable person...... 2 Likes |

Teenuh: As long as you are not getting paid, it wont affect your COS but I wouldnt do more than 20hrs of volunteeering though. Regarding career path afterwards, its largely subjective to individual interests, however a career in Nursing in the UK could be quite challenging especially if the ongoing NHS challenges are not addressed effectively. Personally and due to recent experience, I will recommend Health and Safety courses such as Nebosh and co. There are quite a number of opportunities in that sector if no sponsorship is required. 3 Likes |
