There's a vibe my local church has, the complex aura produced by different perfumes, the catholic ritual especially the homily & eucharist then the socializing @ the end of Mass. Refreshing. Back home, if you're lucky There's light na to play fc24 or any adventure game while you wait for Mondays cray cray |

musicwriter:Yes, there could not have been a person called Jesus in first century Palestine, (that's why I laugh when modern day Christians say the pronunciation of the word Jesus has mystical and magical powers), but the person depicted by Jesus (later deified) must have existed. He was most likely a cult leader who believed in pacifist, socialist philosophies. He promoted non violent confrontation in a very violent period in isreal, he promoted socialism (sharing of common wealth) in an ultra capitalist society. He promoted non discrimination in a very bigoted, racist and religious environment. Of course that was why he was unpopular within the political, religious and traditional elites of the day and hugely popular within the poor, helpless and exploited masses. Even today Jesus and his philosophies would be unpopular within the elites and they would have killed him over again. 1 Like |

Sundays are boring to me... My worst days of the week. Infact I hate Sundays. I never look forward to it. Always dry and boring for me. Mondays are my best... Probably because Sundays are so abysmal for me I usually look forward to the next day! |

wirinet: At first glance, it appears that way until you realize that there were hundreds of other mythological gods born by a virgin, had 12 disciples, resurrected from the dead, etc.....all of them before anybody heard of Jesus. Here's the thing........ Historians don't deny that there were Messianic cult leaders named JOSHUA (God saves). In fact, there were many of them killed by Rome, including one killed on a cross. But one other Joshua had been killed by Rome on a cross around 100 BC and none of them was called by the name of the Bible's Jesus. That's what history and historians found. There was NEVER any of the cult leaders or Joshua's who was born by a virgin, had 12 disciples, walked on water, resurrected the dead, died and resurrected. The Bible's Jesus is a complete invention!....in fact, a FRAUD. |

folake4u:\ I will ascend to heaven later this evening and discuss the bolded with the council of elders. One Nitzen is hiding and depriving the ministry of the Most High of her 10%. What's a Christian without the "body of Christ" where we congregate, praising the lord in unspoken tongues---shamala hamala.. She even adds "dark room." Tell us, what shades of grey are going on in there? |

musicwriter:I agree with most of what you said. There were many cult leaders promoting different philosophies and agendas in first century Palestine under Roman occupation. Rome was jittery that any of them could become militant and thus start an uprising/Insurrection. That was why they were very hard and brutal on these cult groups, so much so that many went underground. As I said the Jesus group was very popular among the masses due to his socialist and Liberal philosophies. It promoted communal living, and non discrimination between rich and poor, between Jews and gentiles, even between saints and sinners. Where it had issues with some of its followers was it non violent resistance to Rome and local authorities. You must admit that Christianity as promoted and propagated by Rome was indeed a perfect marketing campaign. In fact its the most successful marketing campaign in the history of the world. They took a popular cult leader, infuse him with characteristics of earlier popular cult figures, wrote stories about him in a book and link these stories to earlier Jewish religious text, added miracles that would appeal to the pains and problems of the masses and then aggressively promoted the newly formed religion, sometimes forcefully. |

wirinet: Oh, I get your point now. But ALL the cult leaders were, indeed, militant in nature.....none was pacifist. That has been confirmed in the ancient texts recovered in Palestine and Egypt in about 1945. What Rome did is like the Nigerian government writing a book about a fictional boko haram leader and making his ideologies align with the intention of the government in order to de-militarize his followers. Then, aggressively promote the book as you rightly said. Emperor Constantine simply got the hook and created the Jesus of the Bible. |

musicwriter:The Jesus character was a pacifist. All his actions and preaching were pacifist in nature except where he was said to have beaten people selling in the temple. I believe that narrative was added by be Catholic authorities. It makes no sense for Jesus to go to a Jewish temple he was not the chief rabbi and start fighting people selling religious ornaments. His pacifist doctrines includes; Turning the other cheek Stopping the lynching of a woman accused of adultery Entering the house and eating with gentiles Eating together on the same table with his followers and disciples. (Abomination in todays Christianity) Commanding his disciples not to fight the authorities upon his arrest. Preaching that give what belongs to caesar unto Caesar and God unto God. Forgive all those who sins against you against the prevailing "an eye for an eye". |

musicwriter: wirinet: The earliest Christians don't call it Sunday, they call it the Lord's day being on the first day of the week. And they have been worshipping on that day since the Ascension of Christ and the beginning of Christianity. It has nothing to do with Roman paganism or what have you. If it falls on the day the world calls Sunday no fuse. That might as well be their headache, it doesn't bother the true Christians. |
