I have watched with disgust the alarming rate at which so called believers who are staunch members of a given church visit 'prophets' for special prayers to their 'problems' is it that they believe prayers are answered faster/better in other places, do you do it? If yes why?I believe when you call on God in ur church or u go to ur own pastor in your church.god will hear...

God gave prophets to the body of christ as gift. A prophet is a seer. He sees beyond the ordinary into the realm of the spirit. Many prophets have gifts of healing also . ( not all ) so apart from diagnosing the cases ,they can solve the issues too.

As much as the office of the prophet is real ,one should not become a slave to a prophet. they should learn to live by faith in the word and acting on the word, but if a matter goes beyond what their faith can handle he can see the pastor .

Prophets are there to perfect the saints, to edify the church and for the work of the ministry but as @Joagbaje said, Christians live by faith and not by prophecy. A good prophesy comes to pass as we live on in faith and God's dictates while a bad may be averted as well just by the same way of living in Christ.

The problem occurs when people try to live their life by prophesy. David would have killed King Saul to take his throne since Prophet Samuel had annointed him years before to be king (infact some people would have called him a fool for bypassing the opportunity to kill him) and Joseph would have slept with Poriphar's wife as a sure ticket to lordship and possibly planned to murder portiphar for his dream to come to pass....that is the reason why we should not live by word of prophecy but by Faith. Prophecy will naturally flow and come to pass or not depending on how we walk with God.

1. Yet the same Jesus Christ clearly declared all who would come as prophets and teachers in His name as false prophets and false teachers. Jesus Christ even declared that He alone is the Good Shepherd indicating that any others who appeared as shepherds in his name were wicked folks. So, tell me, are you people for real? undecided

2. Stop lying! There is nothing real about the office of prophets that Christians claim to hold. Jesus Christ, in His Gospel, made known that He was the last prophet sent from God and that all those who come in his name are wolves in sheep's clothing. undecided

How exactly do prophets, whom Jesus Christ made know were all false since He never sent any of them out using His name, go about perfecting those whom you tag saints? lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

You’re wrong sir. In context jesus was not talking about the church but about the nation of Israel during the tribulation . When they start searching for the true messiah ,many false prophets will rise and say they are the messiah .

Where did he say so?

1. Where did you get Jesus Christ telling you that He was speaking instead of the nation of Israel only during the time of the tribulation? I am asking you for actual references from any of the 4 Gospels for this claim that you have made here. undecided

2. Many false prophets already came proclaiming themselves to be the messiah even before Jesus Christ showed up on the scenes. So why in the world do you then conclude that it only applied as far as the tribulation period which began after Jesus Christ's death and came truly into view by 70 AD? undecided

3. Jesus Christ made clear that John, the Baptist, was the last of the Old Covenant prophets sent by the God of Israel. Meaning He, Jesus Christ was not sent by God to teach the Old way but a New way. Then He, Jesus Christ announced that He is the ultimate Prophet, Shepherd, etc. sent by His Father; Jesus Christ lives forever and as such makes a need for another of no meaning - John 10 vs 1 - 18 & Matthew 21 vs 33 - 46. Note the Son was the last one sent by the Father even in the parable. undecided

Because in that chapter Jesus was answering a Jewish question after he prophesied about the destruction of the temple . During the tribulation the Jews who would have embraced the antichrist as messiah previously would now reject him after he proclaim himself to be God.

Mark 13:14
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

At that point of the Jews rejecting the antichrist as messiah he will cause great persecution will rise against the Jews . And they also would be looking for their messiah to come back its at that time several false prophets will show us as the Jewish messiah

Mark 13:21-23
And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things

Kindly give example of the false christs who came

Partially true . He brought the New Testament but he also gave gifts to men. And among the gifts is the p;rophetic office

Going to your own pastor is the same thing, why not pray for yourself?

It seems it is Africans nature to always visiting a presumed spiritually powerful man. Eg Babalawo, Pastor, prophet, Imam

Africans are known to be diabolical in reasoning.
They always attribute their problems to spiritual origin like juju, witchcraft etc, that explains why you see them always visiting pastors and are so afraid to do their prayer themselves, peradventure God will not answer them.

Jesus Christ did not speak of the false prophets only in the context of the last days of God's Judgement against the Nation of Israel mentioned in Matthew 24 & Mark 13 & Luke 21. Rather, Jesus Christ spoke against false prophets and false teachers in the context that is the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom that came during the last days. undecided

2. False Christ? I am speaking of false Prophets and false Teachers, those who come using the name of Jesus Christ to claim they were sent as prophets and teachers in His name. All those who come teaching doctrines and traditions that are not of the same teachings and commandments that Jesus Christ taught to His very disciples are all false Prophets and false Teachers. undecided

3. The only gifts that Jesus Christ gave to men are those listed in Mark 16 vs 15 - 19 and those He gave to all of those who believe in Him meaning every single person who belongs to Jesus Christ would have those signs following him or her. Jesus Christ never gave anyone prophetic office as you claim. Prophets were instituted by God of Israel in the Old Law of Moses and Jesus Christ never said they were part of His Kingdom. As explained by Jesus Christ in the parable I posted a reference to earlier in Matthew 21, Jesus Christ, the Son, was the last Prophet that was sent by the Father before He came back and judged the farmers to whom He gave His vineyard to(the last days of God's Judgement against the nation of Israel(Judah) in the land of Canaan). undecided
