Ah they were, and to add to that, a lot of people were far more conservative than they are now. What we consider mild today, would have been downright immoral back then.Times have changed.

Also, music videos are a recent invention, so to speak. They didn't take off till the 1980's.(and yeah watch some Madonna, especially the video of 'LIke a Prayer' and come and see me...lol. That video was bashed by a lot of people back then).

The point you missed was that at the end, all sorts of stuff were shown on one channel. Moral and immoral programmes. Including late at night movies...which showed some pretty 'immoral' scenes.

The arrival of cable began the change. Suddenly, a lot of stuff changed. One now had one channel for clean programmes, and one channel for immoral programmes, and so forth, plus parental control, and TV ratings. That made it so much easier to control programming without switching things off.

NIgeria has changed a lot. A copule kissing on the street in the 1970's and 80's would have been unimaginable in NIgeria. Meanwhile guess what a lot of the foreign sitcoms we were importing before 1983 were showing... (eg Loveboat, vanderwalk, etc etc)
