I don’t know where he got his figures from. This is what I got for the entire 2023.

The screenshot he posted was Foreign exchange inflow in 2019 which was around $35bn. Emefiele should be in Jail if the government are really sincere in fighting corruption. He sold the dollars to his cronies while creating creating ridiculous data for back up. Btw, 2019 was election period

I have taken note of your moniker. I won't waste my time next time educating you

Do you read the text you just copied and pasted? Did it say foreign currency inflow is different from foreign exchange inflow? Or you just want to embarrass yourself further?

And what does this conversation have to do with foreign exchange “flow”?

HUGE was not part of the original story .....why not report it as it it.
But you clearly want to denigrate the work of CBN with this thread so you had to lie.....like all so called bloggers that tell lies to drive traffic to their sites..... You may call it survival instincts but in professional circles its called click bait
Do you even understand what the OP is saying? Which blog link did the OP drop? The op is totally correct, you APC dog... If you are half as smart as you think you are you would know that Paraphrasing is normal in English. the op did not deviate from the main point of the conversation. This is the official website of the CBN where they publish economic reports: https://www.cbn.gov.ng/documents/quarterlyecoreports.asp

First quarter 2023: $7.2 Billion USD
Second quarter 2023: $8.69 Billion USD
Third quarter 2023: $16 Billion USD

Average monthly foreign exchange for the first 3 quarters = $3.5 Billion USD monthly

I came across news earlier from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announcing foreign exchange inflow totaling $1.5 billion USD in just one month. According to the CBN, this was an indication that its monetary policy efforts were working.

While this news may seem positive at face value, it's important to put it to context. As of 2019, Nigeria was receiving monthly foreign exchange inflows of over $2 billion USD, despite Buhari's government being considered a monumental disaster.

The point here is, let's not celebrate or settle for mediocrity. Nigerians deserve to be fully informed about the true state of the economy.

Propaganda is dangerous for Nigeria's development. It serves only the purpose of failed corrupt leaders who focus on laundering their image rather than doing real work that benefit their people.

I hope you know the values are not the same. One is way stronger than the other. If you are finding it hard to understand, convert them using their applicable exchange rate.

It is harder to make 100($) dollars now than during Buhari .

For those asking, here is a link to CBN's quarterly reports which includes foreign exchange inflows:

https://www.cbn.gov.ng/documents/quarterlyecoreports.asp

You can see that even before Tinubu took over office, in the first quarter of 2023, Nigeria earned $7.2 Billion USD in that quarter, which is an about $2.4 Billion USD monthly.
you should be comparing it with when he took over and the naira was fast loosing it value and ppl prefer to keep there dollars to see to what extent the naira devaluation will go.my honest view

So what then is the screenshot I posted? Was it wrong information?

That 3.9 Billion dollars for the entire 2023 has also been referenced by various analysts and used to compare just January and February 2024 which they say was altogether 2.3 Billion dollars. With this additional 1.5 Billion in March, we already have 3.8 Billion dollars in just the first quarter 2024.

Why going all the way back to 2019? Why not do yy-yy like a normal statistician and post the graph up here. Economists measure quarter over quarter and yy-yy. They don't go scratching in the dirt looking for one year. What's special about 2019 that makes it apposite for comparison with 2024?

Wrong analogy. If a company CEO takes over a billion dollar company and runs it to the ground within a short period of time which leads to investors losing their money, if the company starts making slow progress, does the CEO start celebrating as the hero (propaganda), or does he shut up and continue working till he gets the company back up to at least where it used to be before he took over?

I need data from previous years to compare because that's a very suspicious, possibly bogus claim, similar to the one I just fact-checked

I think you are the one confused about the data. The data perhaps is just limited to inflow from FPI’s and remittances only excluding other kind of inflows, while your data refers to the total FX inflows which would also include FDI’s and royalties for Government.

The data announced by the CBN which I fact checked was foreign exchange inflow, are you not educated enough to know what foreign exchange inflow means? Neither I nor the CBN mentioned FDI, don't bring that in from nowhere.

This is the foreign inflows for other years dating back to 2019. None is up to 6 Billion dollars and the highest was the 5.3 Billion dollars in 2022. So I think you have to review your understanding of the datasets you are comparing.

Why are you still showing me a google screenshot of FDI data after seeing the official CBN report on foreign exchange inflows? Do you have a problem understanding the reports?

Do you know the difference between Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Exchange Inflow? Or you think they're the same?

Governing with propaganda, half truths and outright falsehood would not help anybody.

And I can tell you are from that part that have sworn to destroy this government because your principal lost.
The deliberate increase in prices of medicines kick started the wahala we face now .
Things have started recovering and yet again they are not Happy and making claims of the past being better in terms of FDI.
You and the poster should compare FDIs from when this government started and how it went down and how we are now seeing the recovery.
Whether the men from that region liked it or not, Nigeria will be great again.
