My Mom raises chicken too...she is over 70yrs old. She said when people were complaining that chicken was N15k...she just killed two and cooked. She lives alone, and she is as hardworking as any young person. She even planted cassava in the backyard, and harvested it to make both garri and pap. The problem with initiative is...some people have it, some don't. The only thing some people are great at...is complaining and blaming everyone else. Your solution is AROUND you. Mind you, my Mom does not need to do all these...I don't even want her to do all these, but if i give her funds, she would rather bless others. I also do my best to help those that can't help themselves like orphans. It is a new week...make up your mind to change your own life. The Govt would not do it for you.

So how many people in the US rear chickens and farm cassava in their backyard?

Necessity is the mother of invention. Back to land. Even highly industrialised countries are seriously engaged in commercial farming, but here in Nigeria, anyone that has managed to complete secondary school sees himself too big and educated to farm but be screaming no job, high cost of food yen yen yen. Proudly a farmer.

You’re partially right, the fear of the Fulani boys or kidnappers is another reason.

Most people who started commercial farming few years ago abandoned this great dream because of the above reason.

Yes, but you will have to water it Day in and out, because rice needs a swampy area to strive.

I'm wondering if it's possible to grow rice in a small space like backyard

Yes
People don’t go to farm again to avoid untimely death

It's easy to spot a supporter of the clueless drugbag on this forum

They're now preaching about agriculture and blame lack of it for the country's woes, which are actually being caused by their incompetent leaders

So, when you guys came out en mass in 2012 to 2014 to protest against GEJ's government, agriculture wasn't remembered then as the cause of the poor economic indices?

Yeah Agriculture is the real deal, but fulani herdsmen terrorists and their fulanisation agenda executors must be stopped first. Security first and all the way to the end.

US has stringent regulations that forbid all these stuff...now if you ask me how many Nigerians drive Uber or even Americans generally or even go grocery shopping for others...its a lot. Every country is Unique, but your solutions are around you. During pandemic, I saw that warehouse needed people...I signed up even though I have my regular work...4yrs plus, I still do that as a side gig. You can make excuses or change the narrative, the choice is YOURS. In the US or Nigeria, Politicians do not give a shit about you personally...they look at the world from a general point of view.

I rest my case...

Farming is good, great and extremely profitable....

Where in Ogun State? Be specific...we have a coordinator that can work with you. She is in Abeokuta. We also want to expand into IJEBU, and we are in conversation with Isara and Ijebu Sopen, so we can lease lands and massively plant cassava and create garri processing centers to crash the price. The plan is not to make profit. We make too much profits in Nigeria...that is why redistribution of wealth is massive and the rich are buying Ferrari, Lambo, Range Rover ...multiple vehicles while the poor are getting poorer. We need better taxation or more NGOs and low cost food available for the poor. Lagos subsidized food market is a commendable initiative...increase the taxes on the Rich and subsidize the Poor.

Going to the farm is not the issue. It's the insecurity deliberately created by the North. How do you feel investing in a hectares of farmland only for you to wake up one day to see everything destroyed by cattle, or getting killed inside it?
