basilico: That's not how it works. You can short sell stock and it's price may rise and you lose money, since it's not you who dictates the market price. Dump Bible is falling simply because more are selling than buying at current price, likely because they think it would be worth less in future. And we are watching charts to see who is right. |

ijebosb: Price will up and down within a dwindling range until November when we'd have discovery, if it hasn't imploded by then. Basically, it's a proxy for dump's election chances. Good polls will meme it up and bad polls will meme it down. It's the ultimate maga scam.

raumdeuter: You'd prefer they enact rulings through fiat, where people don't have the option of giving their input? This is democracy. Maybe it should be a clue for politicians that the idea that they have been pushing for decades and everyone is aware of is sh*t . And that they should stop pushing it, if they are afraid to rule on it so close to an election so people can vote on it. But nah, it's the fact that it's so close to the election that is the problem. 1 Like 1 Share |

ijebosb: It is Democracy and parties have strategies to win Its why the Democratic party is spending money on GOP primaries and propping up perceived weaker candidates that can be easily defeated in November. Its part of strategy to win Winning is the name of the game and anything that affect your chances is winning should be avoided |

Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by ijebosb: 3:41pm On Apr 02 |
raumdeuter: It's not Democracy. But that is the way Republicans see it. They win to just win or for power and use strategies like gerrymandering to do so. And the goal of winning is to implement policies or more strategies they know they couldn't get through if voters understood them or had a chance to vote for them. Which in turn helps them stay in power more. You're arguing that politicians should lie or keep what they are planning to do for the American people a secret so they can get in power. What is the purpose of putting them in power then? When you say Dems are "propping up the weaker candidate". Democrats are actually just running ads pointing out what those candidates are saying and Republicans are voting for those candidates. If Republicans are voting for those candidates because of their policies, why does that make them weaker candidates? Oh yeah, those policies are weak to the non-nutty, general electorate. Everything the Republican party is for is precipitated on gaslighting Americans. What has the Republican party accomplished in the last 20 years that has been popular with Americans or moved America forward? I can think of two signature accomplishments, the Iraq War and the ending of Roe v. Wade. Both are very unpopular, so much so that they are even scared to mention either now or run on them. Winning is not the name of the game. Governing and making American's lives better is. 1 Like 1 Share |

ijebosb: What is the reason Democrats are interfering in the GOP primary? If its not to ensure that they win Its funny when you scream gerrymandering when Democrats have been doing as much redistricting as well but as with Democrats they blame others for what they do as well. Maybe you will blame Republicans for forcing you to gerrymander Democrats have been in power for 12 of the last 16yrs yet they still point at Republicans for not being able to effect the changes they promised the voters 1 Like |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by ijebosb: 4:24pm On Apr 02 |
raumdeuter: You can probably answer most of these questions yourself or already know the answer. But most of the things you write can only be written if you assume you are only looking for a surface level discussion or talking to someone who has 0 clue about any of this. Ex. 1.) You are talking about Democratic interference. Of course Democrats want to win, but how are they doing it? Not by not allowing Republicans that ability to vote like you want to do with IVF and abortion. But by telling Republicans more about the candidates that are running. Dems aren't lying about the candidates. And no one is forcing Republican voters into choosing nutty candidates who scare everyone else. So instead of worrying about Dems, you should worry about why, when Republicans are giving choices of candidates, they always choose the nutty ones who are unelectable by the broader electorate. Again, your argument can only be made if you are talking to someone without more than a surface level understanding of all this. 2.) The gerrymandering argument. Yes Democrats Gerrymander. But they have done it as a means to not unilaterally disarm, and are even more stymied by Supreme Courts in their respective Democratic states. But given the opportunity to get rid of all gerrymandering, Democrats would vote for it, Republicans won't. Just look at the new Democratic Voting bill. So, to make your argument, you have to believe that Republicans in Congress also want to end Gerrymandering and didn't just filibuster a bill to make sure it didn't happen. That Supreme Courts in Republican states generally don't have an issue with it, whereas Supreme Courts in Dem. states do. Also that current Supreme Court didn't uphold it because Republican appointed Supreme court justices don't have an issue with it while Democratic appointed Supreme Court justices did. But we know all those things to be untrue. 3.) In terms of being in Power for 12 of the last16 years. To make this argument you have to define "in Power" to mean that being President makes your party "in Power". But that is not how the US functions. As I'm sure you are aware the US government has 3 branches and a President can't pass laws without the votes of the Legislative Branch. Your stat also curiously stops in 16 years why not 24? I did say the last 20 years. In that case it would be Democrats have been "in Power" for 12 of the last 24 years while Republicans have been in power for 12 of the last 24 years. So, you are even trying to gaslight some more with the dates you purposefully chose. But even so, I can name things the Dems have passed that have made America better, start with the ACA. Or how Obama got us out of the recession. Or Elizabeth Warren and the CFPB. Or the new Infrastructure Bill. Or the Chips Act. It's your turn. But all this makes my earlier point. For Republicans to make an argument, they have to rely on obfuscation and gas lighting. I asked you precise things and you followed it up with surface level bombast. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by Laurene: 5:09pm On Apr 02 |
raumdeuter:Not really. Florida has nearly 1 million more registered Republicans and they'll be out-voting the Dems by 2:1...Dems have to get 15 to 20 percent of Repubs to vote for Biden in that 2:1 advantage in order to put it in play and we all know it's not gonna be possible. Yes significant amount of Rs would vote for the proposal but it won't hurt Trump or Rick Scott because they'll split their ballot to vote for them. Trump is facing Biden and not some popular or charismatic democrat and Trump is more moderate on abortion than Haley and DeSantis (he spoke out against the 6 weeks law while supporting 15 weeks ban). Democrats would be coping. No house seat or legislative seat is competitive. Yes Dems would try to galvanise their base to vote but the problem is their base is shrinking in Florida. It'd have much effect in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania...Not that it necessarily helps Biden much there too. Biden's biggest dark huddle this fall would be his "weakness and 3rd partiers". It'll just be like 2004 when same sex marriage ban was on ballot in states like Michigan, Ohio PA, Wisconsin etc. Bush thought he'd capitalize on the unpopularity of same sex marriage then to win Michigan and PA. It may fail though because it needs 60 percent to pass in Florida (I think). If it's 50% threshold then it likely passes. High turnout of low propensity voters that support Trump may hinder it from passing. Kansas measure got 59 percent and Ohio got 57 percent. Florida is gone for the democrats... Roe v Wade in 2022 didn't impact in Florida at all. The state would move more to the R federally this cycle. Trump would be beating Biden by at least 1.25 million votes (approx. 9 to 11 percent). 2 Likes |

basilico: I don't agree what what she/he wrote. I think the analysis is wrong and her/his view of Biden and electorate is wrong. But her/his post seemed reasonable enough not to argue. And generally if people's posts are reasonable enough, I don't care where he/she may be posting from. But since you brought in an understanding of "the situation on the ground". I think it's fair to understand where our perspectives come from. So, why don't you ask Laurene where he/she is posting from. 1 Like 1 Share |

How is this a coherent statement - A whole president only remembers grand kids jumping into his bed? - and you want me to explain it? You are seriously dumb, i swear. My grandfather, who is blind, occasionally asks after me and calls me from home with some help. A 90+ years old man for that matter - a blind man still remembers me and calls me. You are damn stupid bro. |

Obrigardo:Let's do s recap on JB. He loves kids, sometimes he leaves the podium to go kiss a toddler in the audience. He smiffs girls hair, holds their waist and on some occasions little girls titties. He said little kids loved to feel his hairy legs. He sort of loses his mind when he sees kids. How old are you, he asks dottingly. He loves kids so my much, he ignores Hunter's kid sired with a stripper. His own grandkid doesn't exist. Hunter' Biden has saved him as *Pedo Pete" on his icloud account. As VP Secret Service used to shield the female agents because JB loved swimming and walking around stark naked in their presence. His own daughter in her diary wrote she thought it inappropriate taking showers with dad. Long and short JB has an unusual interest in kids. You would trust your kids alone with him? I wouldn't. Media ignores his weirdness and spends gazillion hours looking for anything negative on Trump. His favourite moments in the WH? Grandkids jumping into his bed. How about he said signing EOs to pay off student debt or sending aid to Hamas terrorists ?Nah, kids jumping into his bed is what he remembers. He loves walking naked in the WH according to rumors, I would assume he sleeps naked. Get the drift? He didn't start these cringe worthy behaviours when he became senile. If you are not closeted paedos you should see that his senility has nothing to do with his fetish for kids |

budaatum: He won nominations overwhelmingly. Republican voters want him. Elitist Republicans can whine all day, he beat them like a drum. The GOP belongs to him not the snobbish backstabbing career politicians who will soon line up seeking his endorsements in the upcoming elections. Some republicans want DC Dulles airport renamed to Trump International Airport. Other people want his face on Mt Rushmore. I don't really agree with them , I'd prefer a Trump Statue of Liberty rename.😁😁😁 |
