I have never experienced it as an Igbo. I have lost my dad, aunts, uncles, and so on, and never did i see anybody drink it

I even started this year with a burial in Imo, and nobody drank anything.

Maybe others who are Igbos can share their personal experiences, but i have never seen it happen

Nigerian tribal customs tend to overlap than not.

Gloriousgbola mentioned it being an old Yoruba custom as well, and the one I'm referring to, where the woman is "married" to a child from the deceased husbands family is practiced by certain tribes in Edo State, I'm sure there's several other customs in Nigeria that would have variants of this.

You will be amazed with what some tribes practice as tradition in this country till this day. In some parts of Edo and Delta State, a married woman cannot cheap on her husband. Any woman that does will die a slow and painful death, yet married men can cheat on their wives and nothing happens.
