And after helping her, what will the ministry do when a deluge of people decide to also take up residence there just to get attention also? When Lagos beggars on Agege rail line decide to board trailers heading to Cross River so that they can also benefit from the benevolence of the ministries?

I'm not saying she shouldn't be helped, but I hope the ministry won't start what they can't finish, because those that applaud them for starting will be the ones to antagonise them when they start chasing opportunists away

Shelter should be one of the primary responsibilities of any government but in Nigeria, it's the direct opposite.

Who are the right people? Are they not all the same? The problem here lies with humanity. At least many people must have seen the mother and child out there, including the person snapping with his phone. How come no one has taken a step to do something?

Woman could be mentally ill.

Helping such people is a tough thing. They have to want to be helped which is where the problem is.

Right in front of Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs & Poverty Allevation, Ministry of Social Welfare and Community Development and the Cross River State Child Protection Network is where the woman in the pictures and the child believed to be her own have been living for only God knows how long.

You can see where they are living by the fence openly. The fence is close to the popular Hope Waddel Institute, Calabar. You can see them lying down on bare ground. I mean bare ground.

If not for anything, why not for the sake of the little innocent child, this woman and the child are take away and to a better place?

Quite disappointing to see what this woman and her child are passing through. The innocent child right in front of the office of the state child protection network? In front of Ministry of Women Affairs? In front of HumanitarianAffairs? Come on!

if you are the one who took this picture, why dont you post it on twitter. it will get more traction on twitter than nairaland. you can even tagged newspaper houses and every government agency u can tag

If I see a human being that isn't handicapped, begging, it pisses me off.

It's okay to ask for help from a close friend, stranger or relative once in a while, but it's not okay to sleep all day and expect manna to fall from heaven.

Get up, use your hands to feed yourself
It's okay to learn a skill or get a loan to start up a small business.
If everyone is lazy and sleeping, then no one will work.
Everyone likes sleep too.

Some of them like it. The other day one in Lagos returned back despite people renting an apartment and giving her money

Come on,my great Calabar people,do something about this woman and her child's condition. Cross River's people are known to be kind, hospitable and very friendly, unlike some empty chestbeating braggarts from that tiny erosion-ravaged land of primitive cannibals.

BTW,see clean streets! This is one of the reasons why I love Cross River and Akwa Ibom people;they are super clean, effortlessly !

Anyways, thanks for the enlightenment. Nothing happens in Cross-River and should not be advocating for development. How many humans reside in the state. A state where monkeys outnumber humans.

I wanted to Curse the Ministry & Agencies

But...........

I remember one woman like this who was rehabilitated and given huge money for her and her kids.

After couple weeks they didn't see her again

Turn out she took all that money and went to another state to continue begging and using her kids as sympathy.

May God save us all cry

Money is always a wrong idea for this kind matters. Give her accommodation and job to do. Even if na cleaner work just pay her abit fairly. Normal person wet dey hustle dey loose-guard when you dash them plenty money not to talk of woman wey don't dey use to begging.

Many children in UK and US there are child benefit packages. But in US there are also percular cases of mother and child sleeping outside most especially those harlot in the US who can't affordable to take care of the kids and not entitled to a child benefits ...

So , poverty is not percular to Naija alone....poverty is universal
