If BDCs buy at a particular rate from the CBN and the black market price turns against them, that's tough luck.

Where BDCs are right though is the CBN delaying in releasing the dollars to BDCs after collecting naira from them.

Once the CBN accepts a BDC offer to purchase $, it should promptly release the $ after collecting their naira.

It is a fast-moving market, so any delay is unhelpful to BDCs.

CBN doesn’t just reduce rate like that. The rate they set for BDC’s are usually the lowest rates at the official market from the previous day transactions. So that 1251 was the lowest bid at the official market at that period. As at Thursday, the lowest bid at the official market was 1200. So if CBN is to set rates for BDC’s today it would be maybe around that 1200 except on Monday the lowest bid becomes 900.

Even in America $1 in 2010 is worth $1.42 today. You obviously don't know how economies work.

If Nigeria stops importing ax much as it does and starts exporting aggressively and more oil and gas are also sold, then there will be a great jump in the value of the naira. Until then let's thank God for the little improvement in fx crisis.

Keep silent, Cardoso isn't free floating the Naira again. Infact, naira is being defended by Cardoso too. That's why we have this current appreciation to the dollar.

I support Obi, I know he would have done something like this and more. Meanwhile, I'm happy with this policy of CBN and Fin. Minister because I use dollar to make payments abroad. They should keep up with the efforts and if possible abolish BDCs and put stringent measures on fx markets to stabilize naira at the market-determined rate it supposed to be not speculation. End money laundering abroad and fight corruption drastically...this part will be difficult as even Tinupooo is chief corrupt and Akpabio, the rubber stamp senator ain't stopping soon.
