dollarnaira: It may not be entirely true, but it's the truth. SPDs aid in mitigating excess surges, and where will the surges go to if no earthing was done? Even if na 4ft or 6ft earth rod with 2.5mm wire linked to earth bus bar, damage will surely be reduced! |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ferdiwar: 10:52am On Apr 08 |
This looks more like lithium polymer judging from the attached pictures. 1. Are you charging the battery with external charge controller or from the inverter? 2. Does your inverter/charge controller has the correct charging profile for the battery (that's if my assumption of the battery being a lithium polymer is correct). Try and confirm if my assumption is true by taking the voltage measurement of each cell and see if you'll get between 3.7 to 4.2v at full charge. RickyM: |

dollarnaira: The cells are Poche cells, I strongly believe they are Li-ion/polymer not lifepo4. Some of the cells are probably bad. |

I haven't used plycontech batteries before so I can't rate the 2, but the deye is currently performing beautifully. LUKINGUY: |

mctfopt: Conversely, when some of us give cost to a quality installation clients will negotiate craze commot for the thing, or simply ignore you and say your price is too high. I do installations on the side, and trust me if it was my daily hustle, hunger for don wound me and my family... meanwhile, some installers that don't do due diligence when installing are already counting hundreds of installations done YtD. |

RickyM: Hmmmm...to run freezers at night, 1m+? How was that supposed to be possible? These are some of the issues... |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 12:21pm On Apr 08 |
RickyM: As a professional Nigerian, I'll tell you one of the ways this would end if you involve the police. Once the police hear the cost of the item is N1m+, they'll ask you to bring "ordinary N200k"to enable them open "investigation" on the matter. The half-baked/crooked tech guy will be arrested and you'll be surprised to see him in his shop the next day. If you have an insider in the police you'll get to know he bailed himself with N20k If you approach the police again, they'll ask for more funds to enable them use their "tactical team" to mobilize for more investigations that they realised the tech man is not working alone. After back and forth, and more payment from you, the tech man may be persuaded to pay you some little money, say N100k as he was not solely to blame for the item not working. At the end of the day you are still at a loss. If you meet a lawyer he will ask for N50k mobilization fee to enable him start court proceedings that will ensure the tech man pays you N5m in damages. Months after spending over N600k in court appearance fees and time wasted in going to court, you may be advised to settle out of court. It's hard to get justice here. At least legally 9 Likes |

Trippledots: That's another thing. A friend, an installer gave someone a quote for ₦2.5m for some solar solutions, the client laughed at him and said if he has ₦2.5m that he would be out of the country where there is 24/7 power. Crooked installers get the job most of the time as compromising on quality means nothing to them. Eg using a 40A PWM to run a 5kw PV set up. Lol 5 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Oshomo12(m): 3:38pm On Apr 08 |
mctfopt: Lol, I remember when I gave a quote for an installation(ICT section) in a university, the VC and co told me it was expensive that I should reduce it. I told them no, that was the last time I heard from them. Only for them to call a big installer who did it 200k cheaper! The 200k difference was for earthing the building and equipment. Well, the transient current from the inverter damaged equipment worth over a million(this was when dollar cheap o, around ₦400/$). 1 Like 1 Share |

kristien4:This sound very funny Will going to his shop with army to beat him solve the problem? Everybody may not be me but believe me it works for me. It has been working and it will continue to work for those that believe. If someone deceives me and collect my hard earned money, he will and can never use it for something meaningful. The law of Garma is real. God can never lie. Though it's very painful, but we should learn to leave some battle for God. 2 Likes |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by RickyM: 8:33pm On Apr 08 |
Trippledots: He uploaded a 10kwh battery and I said I want half of that and he gave me a quote for it and I paid. Afterwards I also paid for inverter and solar panels differently so when I said over a million, that’s just for the battery alone. I paid since last year and during this time even Felicity supposed 5kwh battery is at least able to supply 4.3kw and it’s sold below the price I paid for the DIY at that time before the dollar started rising and prices of things skyrocketed. Regardless of the efficiency of the inverter and power loss due to heat, 4.3kw that Felicity battery supplied will run a 110W three start rated freezer for more than 24hrs without recharging so yes it’s nothing impossible if he did what we agreed on…Thanks! |
