Don’t Transact In Dollar – EFCC Warns Schools, Hotels, Others by BeeBeeOoh(m): 6:06am On Apr 09
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has warned schools, supermarkets, hotels and others against charging for services in the country in dollar or any other foreign currency.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, in the latest edition of the commission’s monthly e-magazine, released on Monday, threatened to jail anyone found dollarising the economy.

The EFCC boss cautioned that anyone caught collecting dollar for services or goods would be treated as a criminal in accordance with relevant Nigerian laws.

He vowed that the commission would go after schools, supermarkets, hotels, estate developers and business operators that used the dollar for transaction instead of naira.

“We have also started securing convictions. Schools that charge Nigerians in dollar, supermarkets that trade in dollar, estate developers that sell their property in dollar, hotels that are invoicing in dollar, we are coming after you and we have made arrests in that area.

“Yes, if foreigners are coming in and the only means of transacting is their credit card, and dollar, why not, you will get that.

“But document it properly as against selling things within the system, local economy and you will be using dollar as the medium of exchange, it is illegal.

“Our law does not allow for that. And we have also effected some arrests,” he said.

As long as they can still transact with people abroad in foreign currencies, it makes sense

But let's just tell ourselves the truth, the real culprits are the ones stealing N30 billions and billions and converting to USD thereby causing undue pressure on foreign currencies, but the ordinary citizens are to blame lol

When we're ready to fight the real corruption, we'll know

Good one.

But when will the EFCC make available the forensic analysis report on the dollar video involving Ganduje? We understand that when this event happened, Ganduje was still the governor of Kano State and was covered by immunity. Ganduje is no longer the governor of Kano State. He is now the national chairman of the APC.
So what is holding the forensic analysis report from being made public?
Is the APC national chairman covered by immunity, or is Ganduje getting his immunity from Tinubu? EFCC should at least let us know.

A lot of people still don’t know that the introduction of BVN made politicians withdraw their money in Order not to be traced back to them … since it might be too bulky to hide , they converted billions of Naira into dollars…thereby creating artificial scarcity due to the obvious high demand for dollars…

Any time EFCC or FG is really ready to fight crime and bring down dollars for real…they know exactly what to do and not this artificial subsidizing the dollars and witch hunting which will never have a lasting effect

My own be say, they should just lead by example, let it start from top then it will be easy to follow....

And for those foreigner coming for education, tourist, or investors they should just change whatever currencies they're bringing in to naira, that's how it should be. When we go to other countries, we also change our naira to their currency shikenah...

Warn them, then prosecute them for hard labour jail time if they prove stubborn and treasonous.

This country must not tolerate economic insecurity of any kind.

That’s not the source of the problem
It’s politicians stealing naira and converting it to dollars to launder
Go after them

Indeed they are.

We must chase dollars out of the psyche of Nigerians.

we must exorcise it from our mindset.

This Tinubu regime is alive and kicking.

No rest for those who undermine Nigeria and Nigerians.

The EFCC boss should look at Ikoyi, Banana Island & VI - most facilities in this area charged in dollars.

Exactly. Truth is, they know these even much more than we do. They don't want to lose their jobs because these shenanigans lead back to the source. They just hope we don't know these things
