I would tell you for free that Abuja people are always forming what there are not very irritating set of people , I was there and toured around the city and regretted my stay, everyone's always forming what they're not, always bragging indirectly and always pretending to be too serious with life.

The compound people have not jam craze .man before. Like my former compound. They'll use stone to bang the gate and no body will hear word in that compound that night. The guy is gentle that's why.

you are very correct. I love that kind of house very well. That's how it should be, we blacks are very wicked and evil. Someone will be claiming to love you but they will be spying at you and backbiting you. As long as I'm concern, anyone trying to know mush about his or her neighbour is a suspect

At times I wonder what will be the gain of mean neighbours. I have one neighbour in my compound that always found it difficult to respond to a neighborly greeting and always frowns her face whenever she sees me and my family. I and my wife decided to finally stop greeting her and she too stopped. We don't talk to ourselves living in the same compound.

E get one neighbor like that too for our former house, she doesn't greet nor respond to greetings. Her daughter and one guy was playing outside, I dont know if the guy touched the girl inappropriately she threw a knife she was using to peel orange at the guy, omo na so knife cut one of the boy's vein on his leg na so the guy begin bleed. Blood was rushing out like say them open tap, meaning e get one babe wey i dey chyke of street I gave her appointment to come around 5pm i will be around then. When she came she came she called me she was at the gate then I rushed to open the gate for her low oand behold I saw the boy lying on the ground with blood gushing out from his leg na so I remove my shirt tied the leg then carried the boy on my back. The was say even saying chai na like this I go take die that he's feeling cold inside his body omo the guy black eye don dey go inside. Thank God for using me to save that boy that day. Could you believe that father of the girl didn't even even said thank you instead he went to call police to arrest me that there was no blood that I lied. Even the police came used sand to cover the blood that I was a liar. B4 the police came me don japa, the girl that threw that knife was crying and begging me that day to carry the boy because she couldn't carry him. Omo the girl twisted everything and said there was no blood, she even saw me the next day without greeting me lol i just laughed. May our good never put us to trouble. Omo people dey this life ooo.

Na so I be save one of my former neighbours from setting her apartment on fire due to her carelessness and when her husband be come back, him no even open e mouth say thank you.

The 11th. Commandment states that 'help is a sin..if you wan dey open gate for neigbour na you go open gate taya...make everybody mind dey for wetin eim dey do...nigerians enjoy lawlessness and can't keep up with simplest of laws and orderliness...

Trust me, you have a very good landlord. May God continue to bless him. I can't forget in a hurry one of the most horrific experiences I had.

A friend of mine ( of blessed memory)who travelled abroad came back and needed a place to stay. As bachelor wey I be, I accommodated him because I felt it would be a waste of money for him to lodge in a hotel for like 2 months. On that fateful day, I went to see my parents and called this my friend that I may come back late, so he should please be on the lookout in case the gate is locked.

Unfortunately for me, my phone ba3 died and unknowing to me, this my friend had gone out but put my key somewhere for me because according to him, he had been trying to reach out to me, but my phone was off. To cut the long story short, I came back around 10pm and was knocking and knocking at the gate for like 3 hours and no one came to open. Around 1am or so, I had to scale the fence because I didn't have any friend close by and I didn't want to go back home to my parents because it was very dangerous at that time of the day with robbery incidents and all and also because I was a bit drunk due to "several issues "I was facing at the time.

So back to my story, na so I scale fence o and slept in front of my door because I didn't know that my friend kept the key for me. I thought he mistakenly took it with him. Around 3am or so, that was how I felt a sharp pain on my back . I didn't know my neighbours or landlord had gone to call OPC vigilante and also the police that a thief broke into the compound. Na so them start to molest me o. Honestly, I cried that day, not because of the pain, but because of the denial and embarrassment I got.

I vowed never to give birth in that compound even if I marry because it made me to realise the kind of people I was living with. Imagine coming at 10pm and nobody responds at all despite using force and even stones to hit the gate to get attention. See ehn, I DONT CARE neighbours are in abundance. They just only care about themselves and I learnt a very big lesson that day.

Suffice to say the police that came were reasonable and very understanding and never molested me, but the OPC vigilante people that used the side of cutlass to be flogging me. I had my revenge on the perpetrators exactly a year after and they also pleaded with me and we settled, but that's a story for another day !

True to God Almighty after that night or that day he called opc or so Allah I go sue am to court and vandalized something for that house for that rubbish ...

How can I be late outside and someone can't even help me to open the door 🚪

Respect and greet your neighbors , but it will be better if you maintain some distance to avoid see finish. Not until you gossip or enter your neighbors house for friendly shit before they help you if the need arises. Greeting is enough.

You are correct. Greeting is enough and being their brother's keeper when issue arises.

I am lucky o 😄. My neighbours and I coperate o. We even share Christmas and Easter food. We have a WhatsApp group and we dey open gates for ourselves when our aboki security guard takes off from the gate house to pray or run errands. We also charge phones in any neighbour's house that puts generator on and borrow iron from each other if any body's own gets spoilt

Thank God for the kind of people thst live in the estate where I.live ...just press your phone more than 5 people are ready to come help. Sometimes I do drive some residence late midnight to the hospital....emergency situation.. love your nebor no be for mouth . I better pass my neboor is the order of the day

Me I don't like busy body neighbors, but if something is continuous I will answer. I can't sleep while someone is banging the gate continously for over an hr provided it isnt yet 11pm or 12noon.

Go to Finland and you can go on for months and you wouldn't see your neighbor. My Aunt relocated to Netherlands and when she got her apartment, bouquet of flower was dropped at her door step with note that read, "you are welcome , we are glad to have you".

People living in Abuja estate usually behave that way.

The first time I moved into the estate I was at previously, I was greeting everybody. Eyebrows were raised, and no response to greetings. I got used to it and adjusted well.

Although there's estate group chat and helpline to call for emergency purpose.

I saw a post on Facebook days back talking about experiences of people living in some neighborhood especially some estates in Abuja and everybody's I don't care attitude towards their neighbor and I thought to bring the topic here for your contributions.

A particular guys experience made me feel bad. He said he escorted his girlfriend who had come to visit him to the bus stop to board a taxi home. On getting to his compound gate, he knocked and knocked but no one came to open the gate even though he could see them through the small opening on the gate. Unfortunately for him, his phone was in his apartment and his girlfriend's family were calling him to inform him that the girl had an accident on her way home.

Las Las, he had to pass the night at a friend's place with only boxers and singlet he was putting on. On getting to his house Early the next morning, he saw a lot of mixed calls from the girls family, he called back and tried to explain but they didn't want to hear. He packed out of the compound one week later as he couldn't come to terms with the fact that his neighbours could be so mean.

Personally, I can't relate because some years ago in our former compound, I was in labour and my husband was not around, he called our landlord and he drove me in his car to the hospital. May God continue to bless him, he is such a good man

I hear you. Sebi the landlord will be dumb to support locking out a fellow tenant, what if the tenant was in danger of being pursued by robbers? They go collect including the landlord. Dem never jam craze.

My story goes thus.My neighbour wife almost set our compound on fire . She was cooking indomine and went to buy bread and Pepsi. On coming back she went to another flat gisting. Meanwhile the smoke in there flat has envelope their flat and also escaping to outside. I have to rush out and started shouting her name and broke the door to stop the fire. The husband just stayed at their door and thank me casually when a he comes back in the evening. The thing pain sha.
Fast forward there was a day I asked him to always on his outside light because the . He told me that my flat no reach his side and that I should mind my business. That was the same person I saved their flat from being burnt. If I have mind my business may be that flat would have burnt beyond recognition.
