Please this is urgent. Can a 1.5hp AC (inverter AC) run on a 2.5kva inverter. Would the inverter be able to even start concerning the surge |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by HeavenlyBang(m): 11:16am On Apr 17 |
Obnoxious2001: Depends on the brand. Considering energy tests done here, LG's Dual Inverter should be fine as long as the inverter isn't already loaded. As for Hisense and the other Chinese brands, tread with caution, I'd say. Also, all inverters aren't built equally from what I've heard. 1 Like |

Obnoxious2001:U can try it and then give us feedback. Its either it comes on or the inverter trips off from overload(if it has that feature) 1 Like |

Obnoxious2001: It should as there is no Surge on inverter AC, it starts from low power and adjusts up until final power limit is reached. 2 Likes |

Mavor:Check my previous post. I'm currently using 1KW system. But you have to add like 2 to 3 more panels 45k*3 (12v/150watts) again to enjoy cause I'm on two panels. So far has been great. Their site, powerbox.com.ng 1 Share

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:06pm On Apr 17 |
Drgreatone:why not connect in parallel to get more current. And you haven't told us the current that each of the panel generate. A 37V panel should be able to charge a 12v system. U need to give more details of inverter specs and also the current of the panel. And hope Ur array are facing south or southwest. Or do two panels in parallel(to boost current)+ 1 panel in series...I forgot sef, still the same shit, the solar array will go with the least current..so maybe, just parallel everything. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:08pm On Apr 17 |
Parser:Thanks but the powerbox site has nothing on the product or cost. Very weird site homepage. Please advise. This looks like the stop-gap solution I am looking for. I appreciate your help. Also can you please share pics of your own setup. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 3:13pm On Apr 17 |
Parser: Combining in parallel defeats the purpose (I'd av to climb the roof again to reconfigure) and requires bigger wires. Using a 6mm wire already Its a 300w panel with abt 9a of current though max i av gotten is 4. Already mentioned its a 2kva12v hybrid inverter with mppt volt of 30-400vdc. Just feel it doesnt charge well wit solar which is why I'm considering getting a seperate mppt charger. Plan B is to add another panel and see if there's any change. |

Mavor: Try www.renerlite.com specs and pricing are straight forward. Cheers |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:18pm On Apr 17 |
Mavor:ok let me take some pix..very simple setup. Two 150w felicity 12V panels on the roof facing south ward connected in parallel to the powerbox. I didn't even bother to put any breaker. A 1kwh li battery so they say. We all know u can't get 1kw on a 1kw inverter. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by saint2ace(m): 3:19pm On Apr 17 |
Drgreatone: You have a Hybrid with a high voltage MPPT CC, the optimal functional voc for such inverters is from 150v to 230v, less than this is workable but not optimal. So an external CC with a VOC capped at 150v should serve you better. Just me thinking aloud |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:23pm On Apr 17 |
@mavor In my area no light for like a year. So I didn't even stress myself, I just connected the output of the box directly into the wallsocket. Powers ox fan like mad, 2 laptops, my redmi phone 70watts chargeer, TV...lighting points, I just need to add two more panels or 3 so I can have enough current to use while the li battery charge, cause the battery dey deplete on load, meaning not enough array. To think I spent 300k for the setup then.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:25pm On Apr 17 |
Parser:Into wallsocket ke or into your switchboard? Abeg I dey confused as I be JJC. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:26pm On Apr 17 |
Parser:Thank you but what is the complete pricing today for the whole setup? I find it strange that they didn't include this info or a breakdown of the setup on their site. Also where to purchase in Lagos. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:32pm On Apr 17 |
Drgreatone:bro that current is small. Don't waste your money on cc. Just add one more panel. Take the pain to do 2 series// 2 parallel ( 37*2volts and 9*2amps). If not that sometimes the sun might not be strong, and the 37v panel might not dissipate enough volts to charge the 12v..i'd have advice going all parallel on the four panels so you can have 9*4 amps. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:33pm On Apr 17 |
Mavor:yeah, you can put a power source into your wall socket at home. Just ensure their is no mains(grid). My area no Nepa. NEPA is disconnected. |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:39pm On Apr 17 |
Parser:Ok so purely charged by solar. Does it suffer recharging during the rainy season when sunlight is less? Where can I find the complete BoQ online plus price? How to purchase? Is the battery Lithium ion or Lithium Iron Phosphate and what is the battery capacity? Thank you for your kind assistance. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Parser: 3:41pm On Apr 17 |
Mavor:Don't worry I have sent the creators this link. Let them come and defend their products themselves. They will reply u. I just go the product say 6 months or thereabout now, haven't used it for the raining season. |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:47pm On Apr 17 |
projectandpages:Hi, Please are you an official member of the Powerbox team? What is the 70k charger used for and why is it optional? Please is this a pure sine wave inverter? Lithium ion has fire hazard risks and considering I am a bachelor who lives alone and have to work onsite, I have concerns when I am away form home at work. Where is Powerbox located in Lagos? Thank you for replying. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Mavor: 3:49pm On Apr 17 |
Parser:I am looking for something to manage temporary till Sept or Oct when I get a 5kw hybrid inverter/ 10 or 15kwh LiFePo4 battery system after I close a project. Then I will also sell the stop-gap so I hope the resale value is good. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by saint2ace(m): 4:42pm On Apr 17 |
projectandpages: What's the attached battery capacity of the setup? You only provided the inverter output capacity. |
