Ganduje’s estranged son pays solidarity visit to Kano anti-corruption chairman, ‘lauds govt for investigating father’

Abdulazeez Ganduje, the estranged son of the national chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has paid a solidarity visit to the chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Rimingado, in his office.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that Mr Abdulazeez, who is the eldest son of Mr Ganduje, visited Mr Rimingado on Wednesday evening to encourage the chairman for his anti-corruption drive. Credible sources in the commission told this newspaper that Mr Abdulazeez had also supported the charges filed against his father, mother and brother by the commission.

“Abdulazeez is fully in support of these charges filed against his parents. He has also complained to the commission chairman that his name was unlawfully removed as a director of one of the companies facing trial. He bitterly lamented how he was removed without his consent,” the source added.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that in September 2021, Mr Abdulazeez petitioned his mother, Hafsat Ganduje, to EFCC for alleged corruption.

In this petition, Mr Abdulazeez said he was approached by a property developer to help facilitate the acquisition of some plots of land in Kano with some hundreds of thousands of US dollars and at least N35million as “facilitation commission”. It was further learnt that Abdulazeez said he paid the sum in dollars to his mother, Mrs Ganduje.

But three months later, the property developer discovered that the plots of land he wanted and had paid the first family for had been allocated to other buyers and he then requested to be refunded.

Recall that the Kano anti-corruption commission had dragged Mr Ganduje, his wife, Hafsat Umar, his son Umar Abdullahi Umar and five others to court on eight count charges bordering on corruption, misappropriation, diversion of funds among others, running into billions of naira.

Others are Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

One of the counts said that “Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Sometimes between the period of January 10, 2016 or there about, at Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, while serving as the Governor of Kano State and being a public servant in the government of Kano State corruptly asked for and received the sum of $ 200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand United State Dollars) being benefit for himself from one of the beneficiaries of contracts awarded by the Kano State Government on his instruction and approval as part of his function as the Governor of Kano State.

The charge sheet said such action amounted to official corruption contrary to and punishable under Section 22 of The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended), Law No2 of 2009, Laws of Kano State of Nigeria.

Another count reads: “That you, Abdulahi Umar Ganduje Sometimes between the period of February 10, 2017 or there about, at Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, while serving as the Governor of Kano State and being a public servant in the government of Kano State.

Respondents agreed to do or caused to be done an illegal act, to wit, dishonestly and/or corruptly to your own advantage collected a kick back of the sum of $ 213,000 (Two Hundred And Thirteen Thousand United State Dollars) being money generated from people and entities seeking or holding the execution of Kano State Government contact and or project for the remodeling of Kantin Kwari textile market as a bribe through one of the contractors (agent).

The charge sheet stated that the former governor thereby committed the offence of official corruption contrary to and punishable under Section 22 of The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended), Law No2 of 2009, Laws of Kano State of Nigeria.

It's only in a party like APC - a party full of people and children without values - that a man like Ganduje, who was caught on camera stealing USD, can be made a party chairman.

I ask again, "What are these so-called elders who demand so much respect from young people teaching the younger generation?"

EFCC have long confirmed the Gandollar dollar bribe stuffing scandal but now the druggie on seat wants to shield him from justice.

They think this issue will be forgotten but no it won't. Making a well criminal the face of a ruling party and govt. A government without morality, accountability and any iota of transparency enjoy leading stupid people.

Any son that will support outsiders against his own father is an efulefu!

It's even better to remain neutral than to disparage your parents in public if they have done something wrong

This is how things work in advance countries. corrupt practices must be reported no matter the personality involved. In Nigeria, a group of miscreants for the sake of 30k naira a month, will go any length to defend the corrupt individuals even such corrupt practices are detrimental to their general well being.
