some people here are just agent of discouragement, that’s why I love Liberians in Vietnam they help and encourage each other so much, when I wanted to apply for a Vietnam study visa, I came here I got so much discouragement, I contacted someone I know in Vietnam they said they can’t help me apply for a student visa that it is hard this and that, Omo I used tourist enter, immediately I entered I got a Liberian friend and she took me to her school the next day, I applied for a bachelor’s degree and the sch said I must start with a language course, this is same as uk universities when you don’t meet up with English language requirements, i said ok no problem, after the application, admission was out within the space of 1 month and my school said I have to go for a visa run. I went for my visa run in Malaysia and the whole cost of my visa run was not up to $250 both flight and maleysia visa. I was in maleysia for 2 weeks and my visa was approved, I had to follow my return ticket back to Vietnam as a student. Yes you too can stay in Nigeria and apply for a Vietnam student visa, my school is just 1500$ and 120$ for your visa fee and they will be the one to apply for your visa yourself, you all should stop discouraging ppl, and as for teaching jobs, my dear teaching job is in Vietnam na you no get the requirements, if you strive hard on Facebook you will get teaching job and if you disturb ppl you will get connections for teaching jobs, yes am in Thai Nguyen and I am teaching here. The only difference is that English teachers in Hanoi earns more than those in Thai Nguyen and my 1 month salary as a teacher in Thai Nguyen is someone’s 1 year salary in Nigeria. Everything in this life is knowing what you want. Vietnam is a very good stepping stone to all this high countries and that’s why am here instead of Nigeria
esthernnamchi62@gmail.com

Believe this agent wholeheartedly at your own cost. The highlighted statements are what they always tell their clients to deceive all those stranded here today. All those they arrested at Thai Nguyen, most of them has been deported except 1 girl who is yet to raise money for flight ticket back.
I am not going to respond again. Just Contact her via the email and pay what she (or he) will ask you to pay. When you come and see for yourself, nobody go tell you.

No be the same Thai Nguyen wey Dem come pack una like sardine less than 2 months ago?

Wey some of una dey run mouth say Dem abandone una like say na the some of us cause una problem for there...

Please! Try to be realistic with the situation on ground here in Vietnam.

And by the way nobody is discouraging people to come here because na here some of us dey and we are living fine but the reality of life is that, things isn't as rossy as it used to be... I meant casted to be honest.

I will try to pretend you are trying to really help people because for you to drop your email on a thread people ask asd seek advise freely is very fishy and I won't want to call you names but you seem like one of Dem wey dey run $50 tourist visa for Nigerians dey promise them teaching and factory jobs for Vietnam. Lol

Pls! Nobody should email this person.. always ask for advice on the thread and loads of people will be willing to point you to the right direction.

By the way! Scammers are on the prowl now with Vietnam visa... Make una shine una eyes.... I don talk my own.
Leave them, they will still contact the guy claiming to be female. That person is a CONFIRMED AGENT of DARKNESS looking for gullible Nigerians to harvest their little money. Until they come and see for themselves, they will not LEARN.
I know they will call me one of those discouraging them to come to Vietnam.
If them get ear and sense, they will learn

You also see through his post. No mind them. It is so sad seeing how they scam Nigerians by promising them jobs and they abandon them to there fate here and folks like us will be blamed for not been our brother's keeper when the reality dawns on the victims.

It's becoming an eyesore the way they scam Nigerians easily by charging them thousands of $$$ by doing tourist visa that's worth $50 and promising them visa run is easy. Lol 😂

Them no dey tell person. Na body go tell the victims by the time they get stranded by risking it all via a tourist visa.

Here is the truth! Shey na so Malaysia evisa easy reach abi na Singapore, Maldives, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos abi na Thailand visa dey easy to get as a Nigerian passport holder even for we wey dey here so or else you have a work permit and TRC makes it very easy for folks like us.

Tell them the truth like this but they will come for your head as an agent of discouragement.

Atleast we don try out best to enlighten folks, no come in and hustle with tourist Visa Dem no go hear.

Peace and God bless our hustle sir.

Vietnam is a good destination for tourism, business (buying of cheap goods) and for teaching. It’s not a place for hustling. So, do not go if you don’t have any of those things in mind. Also, for those that intend to teach in Vietnam, there are certain pathways you MUST follow to succeed, otherwise it would also end in premium tears. Many Nigerians are teaching in Vietnam and cashing out from it, there are also many others who are frustrated and languishing.

You can follow this thread below to learn more about Vietnam or ask me questions; https://www.nairaland.com/8030698/why-traveling-vietnam-might-better

1) It’s true for the date that the post was made.

2) As a retiree from any advanced country the naira exchange rate doesn’t affect us and thus the narrative that my post was based upon.

I wish you a safe trip.
But hope you’re not flying in with an E-visa?
If yes, kindly abort mission to avoid regret.

I said I will get back to this your tweet in few weeks.

Sorry it took me long to do that.
Below is my DN1 Visa sponsored by my Company. I won’t post my WP and TRC here but I am a resident of VN for the Next Two years…

I just returned from Nigeria with no Visa. Just my Residence.

Y’all recall that I entered Vietnam with EVisa yeah? And I posted that it’s really not easy but I developed my own struggle pattern…

I got messed up by an employer.

I went for visa run three times because Vietnamese will f**k you up if you meet the bad ones… (although they are all sponsored. Not a dime of mine in it)

But like I Always say, LUCK AND MIRACLE is not to be messed with.

I didn’t say your advice isn’t a good one but I am comfortable working now.

Now let me say this to anyone who’s still having interest to come here…!

Do not give any agent your money for Vietnam any!!! Anything at all…

If you cannot apply a Vietnamese Visa then don’t come. There’s nothing for you here…!

I said it before, the only job here is teaching. And you have to earn it all in you to be a teacher…! Even if you have IELTS 8.0 band you’ll prove it.

And for anyone who intends cool cool coming with EVisa, I wish you well and Luck but if you know any other country, try there first (especially if you know you can’t TEACH). I won’t advise you not to come but you will need to be thrice a hustler when you come here. Most people can’t do that. They all want to stay in Hanoi and Saigon.

Lastly, I don’t like it when people send me private messages uninformed. You can Ask your questions here and I will try my best to answer.

Good Luck y’all. grin grin

You cracked the secret of success as a teacher in Vietnam, which is, avoiding Saigon and Hanoi. Those cities are already over-saturated with teachers from all over the world. Teachers aren’t celebrated in those cities like they’re celebrated in the smaller cities and towns in the provinces.

Which province are you staying?

However, one drawback about having a TRC is that you won’t have need to visit other countries around. And working as a teacher for prolonged periods, especially in smaller towns can become very boring.

You are absolutely correct…
Those cities are no place for a starter. If not for anything but for the fact that you are there with an EVisa. Police can pick you up from the school eventually if you got somewhere to teach.
I’m in Nghe An Province

Yes staying in the smaller cities can be boring but we all know why we are here…
Once it right you make the move.
Regarding traveling other countries; You can apply for any Visa from here once you have a Work permit and Residence of 2years above. I have confirmed it. The important thing is that you can apply without needing anything from your home country. That’s a big plus in my book.

Teaching here can be very interesting because you don’t need to do much for everything is already provided including the ppt. Just study your lesson and deliver.

There is but only their citizens occupy it…

That’s because of the language barrier.
You can barely engage in any other business or work here apart from teach…

So please save up and find another destination.

This isn't true. I got a job in 2020 in Vietnam with visa sponsorship but turned it down because what they were offering was the same I was earning in Nigeria and Vietnam passport is shit with no way to acquire citizenship so it was a huge no for me.

Ooo anything I read Vietnam, I used to get traumatised. I had an interview with a company there in 2018, that was the meanest and worst interview ever. After 6 rounds of interviews, they made me an offer, and the money was so bad that I started crying. There were 6 difficult interview stages.

I did:

1st Interview - Codility
2nd - Engineering manager interview
3rd - Take home test
4th - Whiteboard Live Coding - pair to pair interview
5th - Design challenge & Refactoring a code within specified time
6th - Live Interview with 6 Developers throwing questions at me.

I could have asked them upfront about the pay range but because I was desperate, I just believed the offer will be good as an International company. I also did not research very well about Vietnam because that country's economic value is in shambles even though they have great social amenities, 24/7 power & good roads.

A friend of mine who travelled to Vietnam 10 years ago came back with nothing, all the money he made there was peanuts, In fact I was better off in Nigeria financially when he came back, now he is desperately trying to relocate to Australia via the Australia Skilled Select program but every thing is super tight atm. Now he is stuck in Nigeria.
