nairalanda1:You are defending failure, there was global economic recession 2009/2010. Debt forgiveness happened 12years before Jonathan handed over to APC. Oil price collapsed to less than 30dollar during global recession of 2009/2010. Every failure.and dunce will quarrel with his tool. APC failed A to Z in economic management 5 Likes 1 Share |

Racoon: Between 2010-14, oil prices were sky high. That's why our GDP then was higher than it is now. BY 2014, oil prices began falling, by the last days of GEJ , we was borrowing to pay salaries then. So, the economy was not better under PDP. It was the effect of high oil prices. BUT.... That does not excuse Buhari and tinubu. Buhari in 2015 had two things that he needed to do...remove subsides, and float the naira. HE DID NEITHER. He also did not raise tax to gdp. Here we are. Also, Nigeria should have had a gdp of over a trillion dollars or more since 2009. That it did not ...shows how badly our economy was run. If Jona had also removed subsides and floated the naira...by 2014, that GDP would have been in excess oor even close to 1 trillion dollars or more Our economy has always been sick because it relies on oyel money price. |

No matter what political party you support, at this point we all should be able to agree to this undeniable fact, that the APC was and still is a curse to Nigeria, there is no single evidence or data to prove that these idiots ever had the nations wellbeing at heart. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

PHIPEX: Yes, because you miss my point entirely, and because everything is an attack on your party Back in 1973-82, we had high oil prices, and high economy. Then the oil crashed in 1982. by 1983, the economy was in free fall. Same thing happened between 2008-14 and 2014-DATE. The problem is, our economy is dependent on oil. And that is where gej, buhari, tinubu...and all our leaders before them, have failed. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THAT, I can't help you. African economies are like Nigeria's. Resource dependent. And when the price crashes, whalaa dey. See Zambia. Copper is its main product. From 2006-11, their economy was on a high due to high copper prices. Then copper crashed...and we saw the result there. Shege. And no Nigerians was running their economy. Make we get off oil, go manufacrturing, you people no hear. |

What was the price of crude oil under Obasanjo that we made great progress? Covid was global, we were not the most affected, countries run well recovered shortly afterwards. You seem to suffer from short memory yourself. Remember most of what was looted by Jonathan administration was recovered and re-looted again. To what degree did Buhari block leakages in revenue generating coupled with his nepotistic style of governance. Procashtips: 1 Like |

Racoon:but price of crude oil which is the major way we boost our economy started going down right after Jonathan left office... also I think the number of crude being produced is lesser than Jonathan's era... Jonathan era was getting in such amout of money, yet Nigeria remained backward and, poverty rate high, unemployment high, wack infrastructure. Well what did I know, I'm just a black African man trying to make a living. 1 Like 1 Share |

Justiceleague1: It's the sad truth, and it is called resource dependency That is why Obi was running on a platform of productivity. He knew where it was at. That's why people like Moghalu, the former CBN Man was suppoprting OBI. If you keep your economy on oil , when oil crash, wahala dey. We saw this in 1973-82, when Nigerian economy was so prosperous, bread cost less than N1. Government was subsidsing food and many other things. We could buy and drive out new cars, not tokumbo. Then october 82 came, and things went bad. Same thing in most African countries. Ghana relies on cocoa, and cocoa prices haven't favored them this year. Result...IMF LOAN. |

Itβs funny how people believed out economy was worth over $500b when it was claimed to be rebased during GEJ administration and our standard of living was still worse then. |

Beverlyjean: All SW states, except Osun voted Jonathan in 2011. His number 1 supporter was Obasanjo, why don't you question what made him and SW withdrew their support? I am not a politician and stopped a long time ago bothering about who leads Nigeria. My thoughts on this generation of politicians and the model of democracy we practice is not to expect any dividends |

DagashSamson: Yes tell us the crude oil price under OBJ compared to his precedessor let's compare. Yes Pandemic was global so it affected most country and affected those that are import dependent the most (Nigeria is an example). Having said the above, You can't belittle the effects of these 2 economic issues on an import dependent country like Nigeria if you're objective. I'm not saying he did well, I'm saying he did better than the predecessor and the successor judging by what's obtainable right now. Before we turn this to a shouting game, we can decide to narrow everything down to what each earned in a 4 year circle and what they achieve within these years. Do you mind? |
