Yabushige-sama finally realizing that there was nothing special about the so called Great Yoshi Toranaga after all, and that at the end of the day he was just a lying, manipulative, two-faced snivelling old cun* ( in Anjin-sama's voice ) just like the rest of them. Was happy to die a fulfilled man, with the knowledge that Toranaga was no better than he was and that he had absolutely nothing to feel guilty about or apologize for. And then proceeds to look him right in the eye, smiling as he is commiting seppuku to which Toranaga smiled back in acknowledgement, as one møther-f*cker to a fellow møther-f*cker. Shogun to me is a solid 7/10 I loved the series, all 9 episodes were at least 8/10 for me but the episode finally disappointed me. If they knew they didn't have the budget for a series filled with legendary battles, they could have presented the series to HBO or Netflix. Imagine it was HBO that championed the series, by now we all would be talking about how it's up there with game of thrones, prison break and all that. The way we waited for 9 episodes, Atleast a legendary fight to the death battle would have been better. This series was clearly a battle series like the last kingdom or vikings or game of thrones. Yes!!! we enjoyed the politics, the conversations, the scheming and all that but the fact that we didn't even see a single battle makes me very disappointed. HBO or Netflix wound have turned this series into gold. But it is what it is. Its a nice series but they could have done better, even if they burrowed money to champion the series, they would have made generational profits from it. 4 Likes |

OhBritannia:And if they spend loads of money on it then it flops nko? Sometimes they just put out these shows without expecting it to blow up like that |

GrimValor:like people were actually dying and they didn't even know the actual thing they were dying for, all in the name of a leader pretending not to want the throne or whatever. Yabushige-sama is my real hero abeg. 4 Likes |

Yabushige summarizes what we all as humans are. Self preservation. I won't blame him for whatever he's done, and at the end of the day, no one wants to die a pointless death. 5 Likes |

I have been shitting on Shogun for a while here but I think I understand it now. Of course, comparing it to Game of Thrones should be punishable by community flogging but it wasn't meant to be compared to an epic like GOT. Shogun itself is its own show and immersive world. Its story should be preserved in the history books of Hollywood. Great writing, great story telling, you can never know what will happen next and a great adaptation of the book and a genuine art form of Japanese culture 3 Likes |

geezyk:He is me, a true depiction of a modern man and his thoughts but at that time, it was considered criminal not to obey your leige lord, so it seemed different and unique what Yabushige did 1 Like |

OhBritannia:No it wasn't, that was what exactly happened in the book - no war, no battles. And I think that's the issue I also have with the series - not going off the source material to make an epic battle scene, it is a great series but it didn't further enhance the source material IMO. It is the same problem Denis Villeneuve faces when adapting Dune Messiah but I know he wont disappoint |

Chibudollar:Yabushige chose to use his head ni, why die a pointless death all to achieve another persons selfish ambition, you can see Blackthorne did exact same thing until he later changed his mind when he met with Mariko on their way to Osaka 3 Likes |

"They could have expanded the budget and shown us an epic battle." Fam, there was no epic battle. It was a gàngbang. It was bullying. It was Arsenal vs Chelsea. Did you people not listen to what Toranaga was telling Yabushige? Once Ochiba, my milf, pulled support from Ishido, the man was done. There was no heroic last stand. Just a shameful walkover. Know that you were never denied an epic battle because there was never going to be one and know peace. 3 Likes |

Kaycee7: The fact is that the audience wanted the satisfaction of a battle...but we weren't given one. It doesn't ruin the finale but let's be honest, it gives a feeling of unsatisfaction. Also, another thing to note is that even Game of Thrones didn't give us large scale battles early in the show. The large scale battles in the first 2 seasons of GOT were done offscreen |

abduleez1:Tower of God S2 and Suicide Squad Isekai are both airing next season, starting from July. Not really expecting either to make much of a major impact but you never know when a show will pull a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Closest you'll get to prime entertainment this year is most likely in October when Dandadan drops. Asides all these, if anything picks up steam this season, I'll let you know. |

OhBritannia:Your disappointment matters not in the grand scheme of things. Generational profit off a 1 season mini-series where the official language is not even English and according to you, "they should have borrowed money". You must think the networks are operating on Nigerian economics. Half the shows you mentioned didn't even have major battles until seasons 2 or 3 when said shows could run themselves on profit from previous seasons. 7 Likes |
