The incident happened around 9.30 pm

That could be correct but if we are getting things right trucks shouldn’t be conveying such highly inflammable materials in public places, there should be pipelines. It doesn’t make sense that truck carrying fuel is traveling from ph to Kano or Lagos to Abuja, the chances of accidents are high.
We are still very far that’s why people will keep dying for absolutely nothing

Why do we not hear these type of accidents in other African countries.

Why only in Nigeria these happen monthly
cause Nigerians don’t take safety seriously

Wait in the next 2years when normalcy has been restored to this same area and same tanker will fall Nigerians will still fall victim

Nigerians and their insensitive reportage. What informed the use of "Many roasted" which appears callous and irresponsible?

@Topic.
Tragic development. RIP to the deceased.

That road should be shutdown it's a death trap.

The other time it was shut down, the senate president then Niger Delta Minister came down to that spot and said the protesters should open the road that money has been released to work that section of the east west road..That road is still causing mayhem every single day, this is unacceptable.

Useless and wicked leaders with no iota of emotions and shame for their reckless behaviors

Why do we always have news of tanker explosion in Nigeria?

I have checked other western nations extensively, and I can't find this reoccurring menace.

When something happens once, you can overlook, but when it becomes consistent with loss of lives, one has to very critical.

One thing I know, we pay zero attention to safety in Nigeria. These tankers are carrying very volatile products and should be subject to routine checks.

How are these tankers built? Are there compartments inside tankers to reduce volatility? Do drivers undergo routine checks for leaks or cracks?

Tankers are high risk vehicles, and should be subjected to very very strict regulations before they hit the road.

my 2 cent sha.

You're very correct. This is why most insurance companies don't insure tankers because of all these factors. Imagine the amount of claims the insurance coy that insure the truck that caused this accident will pay.

A lot of safety precautions and regulations are needed for trucks operation on this country.

Very insensitive of the reporter to use that word "roasted". As if they were animals. Smh

Indeed. To make matters worse, he/she kept using roast/roasted throughout the body of the article also. Na wa at the poor professionalism and shocking lack of job competence in Nigeria.
Re: Many People & 100 Vehicles Burnt In Eleme, Rivers Fuel Tankers Explosions by Inosky: 2:08pm On Apr 27
The govt of Nigeria is not touched if you lose your life in this kind of scenario or other preventable ones, otherwise they would have put a strict measure since against this kind of reoccurring tragedy to curtail such. Nigeria is a death trap, you could lose your life at any moment.

Horrible. And I'm sure nobody will be held responsible for this tragedy. Secondly, whoever wrote the article is quite senseless with the use of "roasted". They were human beings, not pieces of meat. Inexcusable lack of sensitivity.

Solution: stop the useless traffic congestion and check points so that incase of emergency one can quickly zoom off .

indorama drivers are terrible

So those pipelines i see, are use to distribute fuel?
tete7000:

You should ask what has happened to our pipelines that tankers become the only means of conveying petroleum products? Our people vandalised everything and put everyone in danger of coming into contact with tankers everyday.

Yes, some of them. Some transport refined products, some crude oil.

Over population. Such happens in over populated countries with much vehicles and serious traffic. You can't compare Lagos traffic etc with a state like Bayelsa with no traffic any day, any time.

Yes find out what happened at the front when you are inside trafic and remember to leave your vehicle when issue started because if you lose your car but gain your life, you will buy another car.

Similar thing happened years back for Lagos, where one or many died because they are trying to drive out the car but fire catch them and roast them. Na those who sacrifice their car for their life tell the story how one man trying to save the car but eventually lose his life and car

Omo! Things dey happen. But those close to the explosion can't survive ooh

it is well because we can't say those people who died dont PRAY. na just mercy of God and always listen to your guts. If you have weird feelings about going somewhere, just stay at home. Even nothing might happen if you go out but the day your feeling tell you something and you refuse to listen then something eventually happened.....

So for as long as our country has been dealing with oil we can’t find a way to transport it safely? Why must this continue to happen? I’m so sickened.
They will rather steal the money to buy drink of 100m than use the money judiciously.
That road has been a death trap. Anytime accudent happens, it left dozens dead and millions destroyed. The place need flyover. Big one but no,Rivers politicians are busy sponsoring party and elections with hope they will become president to be tossed by the side as usual. The only people that gives them sense of direction, they were told to fight them. Look at that state.very terrible with nothing to show. Absolutely nothing. Why has the centre they loved so much not deem it fit to built befitting flyover at elemen junction.

It pisses me off cos I have once lost a relative when this happened one time. Many years down the line, still the same story.
