Anyone that can pay above 100k per month can afford solar.

Not that straightforward. Solar may require as much as N5mln upfront cost if you want at least 5kva inverter and 10kwh li-ion battery storage which I imagine would need like 15 panels.

Inverter like N800k
Battery like N2.5mln
Panels @N100k each N1.5mln

170k per month is around 2 million naira.

If one can pay 170k for electricity per month, such a person can afford 5 million naira for solar.

Invariably, it is the other bands (B to E) that have been impacted negatively by the unending power rationing and blackouts as emphasis has been shifted to providing Band A feeders with sufficient power to avoid downgrading and loss of revenue.

This is one of many unintended consequences of the tariff dichotomy that was either not envisaged ab initio or stealthily hidden in plain sight from consumers until it dawned on us that we just had a hair cut in absentia.

I swear, since the day this increase came on board, I have gone all April without 5 hours of light in total, a whole month has gone and I can't boast of 5hours of light. I stay sometimes 8 days without seeing light. And they bring it, it will only be for 15 minutes, and that's it till about another 4 to 5 days.

It wasn't like this oo

Nothing new here. I know some homes as at 3 years ago who were paying N150,000 monthly for uninterrupted power supply in a ne of the estates in Lagos.
Stop lying. Only a factory will pay that amount in that location. I live in an estate under 33" in lag and I don't pay more than 30k monthly even with the AC constantly on whenever we are around. We enjoy light up to 22hrs daily. At times, light won't blink in 3 days

The average senator earns millions and they probably have a nepa allowance or something like that.
So what do they care. If we like we should be buying light of 300k power month on salary of 120k per month, if doesn't affect their lives.

Shebi it's someone that is still dragging 700000 dollars school fees there. Shey it's that one that knows the meaning of band A.

We need to start asking for explanations for the salaries these people earn, much less the corruption they do.

Eventually, many of those on Band A will go green and there's a chance that NEPA won't meet their monthly targets anymore in terms of payments. What will happen then??

They are actually out of ideas. Privatisation of power sector has failed, just left the government to accept reality

My band A at an average of 100+kwh a day would ordinarily be 700k+ a month. Thanks to Solar, I think this month will be about 400k. My plan is to add more panels and more batteries. Also plan to change all my acs to inverter acs
