santaclaws: That is not probably the case sir, I don't know how they do it now but during my time, everything you can see in jamb questions are what you could easily find or read in many secondary school text books. God bear me witness, I don't even have time to read during my time because I was working then, and i scored 248. Maybe my brain was too mature for jamb thing back then than children of these day, I don't know. I blame parents and children for the massive failure. You may be surprise that majority of parents and students are no longer interested in books but entertainments. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I think the students these days are something else, they don't read, they don't care, girls goes after boys and vice versa. So in as much as you blame the parents also blame the students as well. Then teachers are not been motivated so don't expect any magic from them 1 Like 1 Share |

In my own opinion, i will put the blame in government fir not taking up their responsibility. Back in 90's, we had only few private schs around each states. And those private schs are majorly for the elites with strong standard and qualified teachers. Then, the best sch to attain education was government schs with qualified and passionate teachers with disciplined environment and cultures. All this are with government regulating all schools with huge investment. Both the private and public schs Nowadays are very poor with unqualified teachers and lack of our heritage culture. Teachers nowadays are not professional and impassionate of teaching because that professionality is under paid. Most of the private schs teachers teaches more than 2 subject with low pay, while government schs are no longer regulated and checkmate. Most of the private schs are open nust to make money and not that of professionalism. Hence, they need to collapse most of the to just few of them that can meet up to the required set standard. While Gov need to re-invest in the teachers nationally to make the teaching professions to be lucrative and attract personal investment of the teachers in the student 1 Like |

I laugh when I see people blaming the students and some saying Jamb sets A level questions. Let me explain in my own understanding, this percentage is good. Every student have a particular set of course or subject he/she understands best, some don't understand when you teach them orally, some are talented when it comes to art, like woodwork, drawing, painting while some are good in creating and innovating things with the little material they have, you also have academic superstars like me who understands every subject no matter how frustrating it is. Government schools uses alternative to practical to teach subjects like Biology and chemistry and before you can be let into the lab, you must be in SS3. They are lack of teachers to teach some subjects,a teacher may be transferred to another school and it will take more than a year to find a replacement or youth corpers and teaching practice students would be used to replace the position temporary, this is absolutely wrong because the students would find it hard to understand and relate with an unqualified staff. Guidance and counsellors also play a role especially in teaching good morals and helping them in choosing their subjects, the guidance and counsellors in public schools try their best when it comes to this and they have a success rate of 70% . Parents should also play a role when it comes to this, they should guide their kids, watch their movements and monitor their academic performance. In the side of private schools, it is a little bit improved but the problem is over pampering and fear to scold a student. Private school students are most likely to fail when left independently without multiple caution. They ignore their teachers, insults them and they behave like they are on top of the world. Students have a bigger role because it is their life and future, many students just lack concentration, many try but can't just understand, some are carried away by peer group and some goes through things like family pressure and poverty, devastation,no matter what try to pull yourself together and concentrate. They are students who have fast brain and captures almost everything immediately while some have to read and re-read before they can have a clue. That's why Nigeria have to adopt various and a more improved way of teaching. This jamb is a good result for all. Students did try and some are saying majority of the percentage scored under 200. At least they wrote it with their head. If not for expo in Waec and Neco only 10 percent will have credit in the 5 compulsory subjects. So I think education begins at home, read and try to understand,do research put yourself together, parents help your kids even if you are not educated they still like it when you ask them about school, monitor their movements and no matter what you go through don't let it pull you down. 1 Like 1 Share |

Deogratiasfx: The genesis of school standard degrading started when the givernment allowed private schools establistment. Most school owners are not into school business for quality but profit. Have you asked yourself why is it that no student repeat a class in private school? Are they all brilliants. The answer is NO. Have you ever seen where school propritor would call you and ask you to upgrade your reault for some students, because student was expected to fail ur subject as a teacher. The same you that taught students that had 90, 80, 70 and 60 scores. Those that scored below 30s would be amended to 50 even 60 to prove to their parents that they are doing well academically. |

Olam09:The world. When I was a student, there was hardly any cable TV. No DSTV in Nigeria. Just our 5 local stations on TV. TV started at 5pm and closed by 12 midnight. I only watched voltron or whatever from 5pm to 6pm, that's if there was light. We didn't have generator. Non of my friends had gen. Only kerosene lamp. Then go out and play, then 7:30pm to 8:00pm one comedy. And that was it. No Internet, no tablet. Nothing. Just carry books and read and study. Today, kids are carrying DEATH in their hands, mobile phones. And it is giving them mental anxiety, depression, anxiety disorders and other mental health issues. Why won't they fail exams? Their heads are filled up with shit disturbing their concentration and progress. 2 Likes

The students are to blame..the reading culture in Nigeria has died off..many of these students are in social media for 24hrs.. Instagram YouTube video watching sexy adult films, Facebook, TikTok on cable tv watching adult movies...so they are distracted by all of these and they do not read and study their books and their parents are busy hustling and working no time to supervise their children and discipline and train them 1 Like |

yemmit90: Somehow you think it's the fault of the 95% who couldn't score above 250? Bro, the result is a reflection of the educational system, stop using your experience to judge the situation. Normally, with your score of 248, back then you wouldn't be able to gain admission into certain courses like Law or STEM courses. Now imagine a situation where the vast majority like 95% couldn't make it up to that score of yours! This isn't about unseriousness, 95% is almost everyone bro! 2 Likes |

REDshouse: 24% apart from being too low, shows that your idea of percentages is very poor. Now out of that 24%, only 4.5% got above 250, which should be the upper average limit. Altogether, 95.5% scored less than 250 out of 400! If that doesn't tell you it's a systemic problem, then you have a narrow view of society. 1 Like 1 Share |

ufotunang:Internet has spoilt things. It is a 2 edged sword. 1 side gives information. The other side gives moral destruction. When I was in Uni, we had to buy books and handouts to read. Then Internet came, and I learnt about PDF. Can you imagine that till today, the 1000 pages textbook I downloaded, I've still not read it? Free download O! But zero concentration to read it. Instead it is the physical paper books that I was able to read and pass my exams. Who has power to read 1000 pages PDF? Online, when Facebook etc is on the same computer you are using? 2 Likes |
