This reminds me of back in 2005 when my department went on a field trip to Ghana...coming back, we passed through the coastal highway in Lome, Togo; it was a beautiful experience. See beautiful hotel buildings along the road; we even stopped at one of the beaches and shot it down...trust Unilag guys na. Memories. I always wished to go back one day...good to hear we're gonna have a coastal road in naija soon. |

Its just funny how some Nigerians behave. Well my only comfort is that most of these urchins here are paid... their backward thoughts does not translate to what average well traveled Nigerians forbear. All those roads shown do not have alternate routes. They were builts solely to create an interconnection. There are many roads that lead to the SS. All begging to be renovated and you want to go and build another one. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Kepukepu: Those defending this project here in nairaland are all beneficiaries from the project through various contracts. They don't care if the project is necessary in this present Nigeria situation. All they care is about political parties and their pockets. 1 Like |

Kepukepu: very true my brotha.... but you can indeed fix other toilets in the house, while thinking of what to do with the shiitfull toilets. imagine moving into a house that was suppose to be fixed by the previous owner... would you fix the unfixed issues OR first ask where is the contractor who was suppose to fix the toilet and that he should come finish the work that he was already paid for (why keep paying for contractors that are gonna run away after election, without completing the work?) |

helinues: Lolz yes ooo. But honestly if obi no dull why he no fit win any election without Godfather? Even common party primary. Anambra elections was won for him by Pa Okoye and people that brought him from fidelity. Atiku advertised him as vice president, labour party internal issues he abandoned them, that Nigeria is the project in his mind, who invited him for Nigeria project? Obidents shld write it down that they don't have someone strategic to follow because come at the end of 2030 by God grace, nuhu ribadu continues from there as the flag bearer. By then let's see how a 69 or 70 yrs obi will campaign after he has said 70 years is too old as president. Even agulu people knows the truth and capacity of Thier son in resolving challenges. lolzzz |

Zxcvbnmghtr: Omo, the way u guys just use this tribe thing eh. I have always believed that anybody still talking about tribe in this century is very dumb. Very very dumb to be precise. I'm Igbo and I hate it when Igbos bash the other tribes. I also find it totally stupid when the other tribes bash the Igbos. What's the divide for. When it comes to sport etc, we are all collectively happy that the team is Nigerian and made the nation happy or sad. This same team is made of all the different part of Nigeria. Why can't we just see things from the Nigeria perspective. If something is bad, we all collectively condemn it regardless of where it from. This thing is dumb. To add pepper to injury, it is surprising to see that the only people who perpetuate this and fight over tribe are the poor normal people. Adams Oshiomhole and Sule Lamido where both on Channels today and where very cordial and called themselves brothers. They did not say south or north. It only these poor rats that continue to fight over tribe. You are Yoruba, Igbo or Husa|Fulani etc, whenever you talk about tribe, you are dumb. Regardless of how educated you are. Chuba Okadigbo stated this correctly in that his famous quote and goes thus: "If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning to the point that TRUTH and JUSTICE become secondary considerations, your education and exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability." |

kettykin: Thank you so much. This is what limited minds post without asking questions. What man with a flat tyre decides to buy a new car instead of just changing the faulty tyre especially when you have pressing needs to meet? One up there has saliently gone the ethnic route as usual and you won't be surprised this is someone staying close to Lagos-Abeokuta expressway 1 Like |

Zxcvbnmghtr:Una just dey blow big grammar. We know that road won't be completed in the next 10 or 20 years. Let's stop trying to justify non value adding projects. Why embark on such money guzzling projects when it could easily have been used to provide multiple power generating plants or rehabilitating the moribund ports or even provide some housing estates around the country. What is the distance of the roads that you guys have been posting? Have you considered the topography of the Niger delta? Bridges alone would be like 400km out of the 777km stretch inside swamps ,huge water bodies etc. Nigerians are too enlightened to be coerced into believing this road would be ready in 20 years time but for the sake of posterity I hope it won't be abandoned at ilaje. 1 Like |

MrBrownJay1:People "queueing" for fuel at 1k per liter and you think they're happy buying it at that amount? In an oil producing country in which majority of businesses are tied to PMS availability. Bros make una try dey reason. No right thinking Nigerian will buy fuel at that amount and use it to just drive down the coastal road for the fun of it. Contrary to your EOD talk ,this is more of " evil spirit" line of thought 2 Likes |
Re: Some Epic Coastal Highways From Around The World by MrBrownJay1(m): 1:23am On May 02 |
Ibrahim79mantu: 7arrows: it doesnt matter whether people are "happy" or not buying at that price....they are NOT queueing for fashion, they are queueing to BUY PETROL SO THEY CAN DRIVE THEIR CARS... and yes some of them will drive it down coastal roads for one reason or the other. the fact that you are upset because some will use that road, is a bit sad. now, i am not saying that this gov is great, but when you guys start mixing everything on NL with politics, its tiring. someone opened a thread to showcase the beauty of the best coastal roads in the world, and you yeye people cant even jejely admire how great these places are and need to come whine like lil girls about the gov. |

Kepukepu:Building new road and rehabilitating old road are not mutually exclusive. Other existing roads are also being fixed. Infact, I have observed that building new road once design is approved and no obstruction can be faster than fixing existing road. If the nature of renovation on existing road is extensive, it won't be surprising if duration is longer than building new road. An example was the trouble in fixing Lagos -Ibadan expressway while still maintaining some level of vehicular traffic, even removing existing layer(s) and disposing them obviously can impede the speed of work. |
