Ohanaeze demands action from S’East govs after Enugu herders’ attack

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly condemned the recent attack by herdsmen in the Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, which resulted in the death of four persons.

The victims are Okeh Oruku, Okeh Chukwuemeka, Julius Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ezea.

In a statement on Tuesday by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze Ndigbo described the killings as “a heinous and deliberate assault on its people, particularly those living in boundary communities.”

The group refused to accept that the attacks were mere coincidences, following the lamentations of the Northern Elders Forum over similar incidents.

“There is a disturbing pattern emerging, and we urge immediate action to uncover the truth behind these violent reprisals,” the statement read.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo called upon the South-East governors, the Inspector General of Police, and other relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the renewed killings, stating, “The lives of South-East residents, especially vulnerable farmers in rural areas, must be safeguarded.”

“We implore our leaders to rise to the occasion and provide the necessary protection for our communities under siege,” the statement urged.

Extending condolences to Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State and the bereaved families in the Nimbo community, Ohanaeze Ndigbo demanded that the perpetrators of the atrocities face the full consequences of their actions.

“As we navigate through this perilous period, we call on South East residents to collaborate with community vigilante groups and security forces to enhance the security of our rural areas. We must remain vigilant and united in the face of potential attacks aimed at disrupting our farming seasons and creating false insecurities to hinder our food production,” the statement read.

Furthermore, Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged the South-East Governors to reinstate the ban on the conveyance of cattle by foot within the region, asserting that “cattle-rearing operations must adhere to established laws and respect the peace of our host communities.”

Their people are online here chest-beating that the terrorist herdsmen can't try any nonsense in the southeast as they are doing in other regions, claiming that other regions are cowards, they are either oblivious or hypocritical about the fact that the terrorists are doing worse in the Southeast shocked shocked. It is even more painful when the UGM\ESN are killing their own hardworking\innocent people in the guise of implementing sit-at-home, while these terrorists go about freely carrying out their evil agenda\activities embarassed embarassed

If the herders are not looking out for something else what are they still doing in SE?
The Governors don't any allegiance except for Imo to take drastic action against these marauders. It must stop now or by the power goes back to the North their effrontery would have quadrupled.

I know someone who said that an Igbo man sold hectares of land to an Hausa man in that area. That the land sold to the Hausa man has become an autonomous area of the state. They call the place Ama Hausa. He said once a crime is committed in that environ the culprits run into there to mix up with the unsuspecting Hausa community. Cows are also kept there, he said. According to him, if one finds oneself there one wouldn't know that it's still in Igbo land as the place has been completely hausanised. According to him the culprits of the crime have gone to hide there.

But what sort of country is it where members of one ethnic group frequently rise up and kill members of other ethnic groups? It has been on for more than 100 years since the unfortunate 1914 Amalgamation. Fact is that this doesn't occur in any other country.
The earlier the people in Nigeria tell themselves the truth that they have no country, the better for all.

Thank you for such a superb post that covers everything about them and their rank idiocy.

Obidients are second to none in empty chestbeating.

I am looking forward to them suggesting this terrible incident happened because the voters in Enugu wanted to "Teach Peter Obi a lesson" by not giving him 100% of their votes.

Having said all that, I pray speedy recovery for those injured and rest in peace for any departed souls as a result of this attack.

Please confirm you need the masses president's action on this. Your comment showa that you agree that PO is accepted by the people of Nigeria.

This is clear. You didn't mention Tinubu, the C-in-C. You didn't mention the security agencies, but you first mentioned the man that the masses love and prefer.
