And yet the Aro Confederacy was THE most brutal slave trading operation on the West African coast, to the point where after the British outlawed slavery, they had to send warships there and literally wage war to stop them from selling their Igbo brothers across the Atlantic. https://twitter.com/DavidHundeyin/status/1784581468750000338?t=CQYSm5o_RDEiYe-YNh1SGA&s=19 5 Likes 1 Share

The Igbo are brave people who resisted the colonial masters satanic rule to the core. The Aba Women Riot later spread like wildfire while Nnamdi Azikiwe and others were championing independence from Britain. Sadly, the first military coup in Nigeria was spearheaded by Igbo military officers who saw how the quota system proponents were bastardizing everything because of political survival. The dogged spirit of the Igbo man also makes him wise to discern early what is right or wrong then act accordingly. The formation of NADECO was championed by fearless retired Igbo military officers like Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, and other fearless patriots of the June 12 era when majority of the locals were sore fearful of the evil Babangida and Abacha government. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

In a way, every tribe was guilty of what the aro confederacy was doing Hell, every race in the earth. The ancestors of the English people for example kept slaves who were white people long before they enslaved black and native Americans .So did the Romans, who enslaved people that we would regard as white. The Germans, even people living in the middle east enslaved people who came from the same tribe and race Infact, the concept of slavery except in the Americas was not related to race. People could go to a village and enslave someone that spoke the same language with them. No one cared. Infact the concept of an Igbo nation and a yoruba nation and hausa nation is something that developed in the wake of colonialism. Before white people came there were no such entities. A hausa person could in say the 16th century invade another hausa speaking polity, enslave people and sell them to North African traders. Ditto igbos and yourbas. Nothing like ' why are you doing this to me, we are the same tribe ' Slavery has a colorful historia 35 Likes 5 Shares |

David is just a typical agbadox. British government didn't invade Igboland because of slave trade. Same excuse they use in America that the North fought the South because they wanted to end slavery in the South. Another example, Nigerian government fought Biafra because they wanted to help SS, Lol, when we all know it was all about resource control. Likewise, British government at the time wanted to gain control of Igboland, Aro Confederacy was an obstacle to them, because it was the strongest pseudo military force Igboland and Ibibioland had to protect them from external forces. So, after several failed attempts by British government to conquer Igboland, they had to use the excuse to end slave trade by Aro Confederacy to bring in their military equipment. Wasn't about ending slavery that they started, it was about regaining control of slave trade from Aro Confederacy, who had sole control of the slave trade industry in present-day Easterm Nigeria and had cut British out of the equation. 3 Likes 3 Shares

David Hundeyin vs Igbo Obidients! I have been enjoying the dragging for some days now on Twitter. They even called him an Agbado and Yoruba coward. It has been hilarious so far. Good enough, sensible and progressive Yorubas have stayed out of the dragging. David is on his own and we wish him well as he battle his fellow hate filled Obidients. The next person Igbo Obidient will turn again is Dele Farotimi. I will be here to laugh at that old and haggard fool when is time come. Every one of the "I am Yoruba but" crew will be disgraced by the same set of folks they were foolishly trying to impress. Abeg, make we laugh David Odensin small 35 Likes 7 Shares |

kettykin: Am afraid hundeyin is right. Nigerian tribes were not united polities before colonoal rule. The igbos were divided onto several polities based on groups of villages, and all practicing a local form of democracy ( not universal suffrage mind!) with no king or central authority. Some parts were even run by the Edos (see olaudah equaino's writings) . Yourba land was a decentralized empire. Hausa land was made up of several kingdoms which until uthman Dan fodio conquered them fought against each other and other tribes And they were made up of warlords who captured and enslaved people from other tribes and their own tribe Like I said, the English too used to enslave their own people. The Vikings had more white slaves than slaves from elsewhere. And so on. Slavery has always been big man enslaving weak man. Forget common tribal and racial bounds. Even in the USA during the time of slavery there were.white slaves. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Another history professor that want to distort Igbo history. Aside the ARO, which other Igbo clan traded in slaves? None! The Aro are mixed Efik people. What I find interesting is that he did not talk about the Oba of Benin selling Igbo slaves from Anioma or the Obong of Calabar Efik or The Aro, Ogoni or Ijaw selling Igbo slaves. He did what the white man does by blaming Igbo who were the victim. Tueh! 6 Likes 1 Share |

nairalanda1: It's pathetic how these tribal e-warriors are just so ignorant and proudly dumb. It's so difficult for them to understand that the concept of the Igbo or Yoruba ethnicity we proudly hang around our neck today is just a few centuries old (if not less). They think it was all "rosey" back then. The English people enslaved the Irish people and believed they were inferior, even today, most Irish people hate those guys because of what their (English) ancestors did to their ancestors. And these Irish are one of the "whitest" people today! At one point, they weren't even accepted as "whites" in the U.S. just like most groups today that identify as "white." 6 Likes |
