Emmypam: I guess you have a PWM 30A controller You can get 3 or 4, 150watt panels, you need a panel with 17/18V VMP. 200w may not be suitable. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:57pm On May 02 |
Amador1: I have this same BMS, I see 24 batteries, I'm interested to know what voltage you running. If it's 48v, how did he pull it off with 24 batteries? Side note: BMS cable management is too poor. 1 Like |

Dam5reey1:it's a PWM 60A charge controller. If i may ask, why won't 200 watts be suitable? Because i already have bought two 200 watts panel few months back |

mctfopt:It’s 48v. On the battery I have “charging upper limit - 58vdc ~ 58.5vdc” written on the sticker pasted on it. He also advised that I set my inverter charge settings to 57.5v and that’s what I’ve been using since I got the battery |

Emmypam: Your information self, you said 30A, and planning 200w.. now it's 60A, and you have 2, 200w already na wa oo. Anyways you need a panel with 17/18V VMP for best efficiency. If your 200w is similar then it's fine. Post the panel spec sheet. |

I have bought four packs in all from him over the years. Transactions were unpressured and he responded to the issues with one of the packs as professionally as possible. Sometime he will be offline for days, placing a normal call or text message will make him check his whatsapp. We all have our peculiarities and while he is the best person to explain his actions in this case, "quick-grab-money " attitude is not one of his vices!. Is it possible he is on site outside network area? TechGeek777: 3 Likes |

Amador1: These are definitely used lithium ion cells, as i surmised earlier..josboy has a thing for them .. Chk that each of the 14 bms cell leads are tight and firmly attached to the cell pair...though from the resistance values..they appear to be. I suspect a failing bms...does the bms have an ON bitton?. U can try power it down/disconnecting the sense and power leads and then powering it back up again.. I dentify the cells reading above 4.2v and attach a car headlight bulb to it..for 10 to 20 mins....that wud drain the energy to acceptable values...allowing the charge and discharge fxn of the bms....then connect the inverter to it and observe. If the bms has failed..then a simple bms swap shud get u back and running again 1 Like |

Amador1: Well, you are lucky that this didn't cause a fire outbreak before it shut you off. The cable management i just saw is the worse i have ever seen in any DIY, Please know it that just water does not put out Battery Fire oooo. Any of those web of wires could have snapped, bridged or even be having partial contact. By the way, you have got 24 cells in total, some 2 cells are paired connection and some cells are single, i am wondering how you want to achieve a 16S setup with this. I also doubt these cell are new neither are they LiFePo4 Cells. I thought we are DOING IT OURSELVES because we are trying not to fall prey to China's deceptions, then what the hell did I just see here? I appeal to someone who is within this guys proximity to go rescue this looming calamity ASAP. At least trace out them wires and Zip tie all the cables neatly. It would have been better to package a (16s + BMS) + (16s + BMS) or even a (16S2P + BMS ) than this setup you have. that 4 Likes |

Eagba: Put a battery. You could damage a phone or something if you don't. Running a DC fan off PV directly is a totally different case from charging phones off of PV only. Not to talk of multiple phones |

Emdee590: The landlord has a share of the problems too. Whenever I hear or read about a client that went with an Installer to market, or went to market themselves and then wants an installer to come install, especially when the client has little to no knowledge of market tricks or installation experience, I just feel they are setting themselves up for trouble. I recently had a client that wanted to install a 5kva, 15kwh lithium system. I was recommended to him. I went there did audit, discussed different options bla bla bla. I drew up three different quotes later and sent to this guy, after days of market searching and what not. After sending him the quotes, my guy said he has run low on cash and is waiting for salary for the month. Month end camd and went still no response, so I sent some messages but he didn't reply after reading my messages. I contacted the wife to ask if he was ok, she said yes that he is just having car issues and is repairing it. I was wondering why car problems will make you not reply simple Whatsapp chat. I just went silent and went about my normal life. Few days later, baba called that he is in Alaba, he has gotten the battery, the inverter, this, that...I was like 😳...then he said he wants to pick up panels that should speak with tye seller to confirm if they are original etc. I turned down the request that's I don't do that, especially since that is someone's business and I didn't direct him there. Long story short, he bought fake panels (likely 250w rebadged as 400w), over priced protection devices setup, not very original PV cables etc etc. At the end of the day, he was still complaining that he spent more than his budget. I just 🤐 1 Like |

Emmypam:200w is a 24V panels, with voltage between 31.5v to 36v. The best way to charge battery with pwm charge controller is to keep the panel voltage battery voltage to avoid power losses hence 80w-180w panels are recommended for a 12v system. But if the charge controller is mppt you are good to go. 1 Like |
