Hi all, I’ve got a family friend whose visa has be curtailed to leave Uk by1st week of June, the issue is that the wife is pregnant with EDD of July. Could you please advice on how to navigate this, obviously airline might not allow entry due to closeness of the EDD date. EDD - expected date of delivery |

Lexusgs430: Haa egbon mi thanks for the reply, they are still looking into pushing for other opportunities if possible, maybe another offer could show up, reason why. Coupled with flight ticket for whole family ain’t cheap for the short term planning, they considering wife stays and put to bed before leaving as well. But that aside, the main reason is if they can still get an offer before the date |

Schoolhike: This is exactly why I mentioned at face value........ It totally depends on the reason(s) for curtailment..... A few years ago, I managed to assist a lady from facing curtailment to eventually recieving her ILR (her case might be different)........ 1 Like |

Schoolhike:The wife is in the UK? Does his restriction affect his wife? If so, he might not want to hear this but he and wife can leave now aka in a week. If it's to Nigeria it's direct flight he would use. Airline will tell what their preg restrictions are. Cos the alternative is for him to leave her and return, and that is some serious bills lining up for them both. There's a saying that if there's no way forward you can always go back. I'm assuming the curtailing of his visa can not be appealed. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Lexusgs430: 11:51am On May 03, 2024 |
Schoolhike: They have to consider date of EDD vs breaching (then having to be slapped with an £8000 NHS bill (assuming no major complications)........ They should work on another route if possible (ASAP)... To avoid further complications.... |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Taal17: 11:54am On May 03, 2024 |
Schoolhike: July is 2months away. How do they feed? Then they'll be out of status When baby is born they cant leave either for another one month at least all things going well cos pregnancy no always dey straight. Let only wife go back and hopefully they have support back in Nigeria. He can wait it out finding a job before the date. 2 Likes |

kwakudtraveller: I'm not sure what you are driving at? What she said is the absolute truth, "British ingenuity’ not colonialism drove UK growth" infact it's the growth that helped drive colonialism, and not the other way round. Britain was the first major state power to consciously and deliberately develop capitalist market structures. Interestingly, this entailed expanding the reach of the state, taking up much higher tax rates than other countries in the 1700s and 1800s. They instituted a central bank and an academy of science. |

Lexusgs430: Oh sorry maybe the use of my grammar is wrong , Visa withdrawn as a result of non compliance to Home office rules (less hours). Got letter from HO to leave Uk by June (60 days expiration) letter came in late I guess or maybe they did not receive letter early. |

In the past it use to be a bit challenging when traveling with tickets booked (paid) by another person. Please is this still a thing? I mean, can husband book and pay for flight for wife without any issue? I believe then the issue is wanting flyer to provide the card used in payment and all that. Is this still a thing? Anyone travelled recently with their partners paying for flight without those show us card issue ( same last name but different card full name) Abeg help, feeling a bit rusty. |

Hi all, I need urgent advice please. I’m currently renting and the landlord uses an agency. I’ve got a broken bed (wooden slats broke and cannot be fixed DIY),so I reported to the agency 3 days ago and they told the landlord. Agency is now waiting for feedback from landlord to authorize repairs which is taking long. Meanwhile the broken bed means there is nowhere for me to sleep in my room as I’ve got family member in the guest room. I’ve escalated the property manager in agency to the CEO/founder to the point she’s no longer speaking to me via telephone, just via emails only. Please is there a govt agency, ombudsman or anyone I cannot escalate to? Surely it’s illegal to not act if there’s a broken bed for over 3 days? Where will I sleep? On the floor? I’m arguing that it should be treated like a fire or gas leak etc. so they can send their maintenance engineer. Please help as I need this sorted today so I can sleep normally. Thank you |

Hello Everyone, I would like some clarifications on this issue. Can a dependant (psw) go to school for Msc? If yes any advice on what to prepare for? NB main applicant's psw visa about to be changed to skilled worker visa (not sure about the exact date but definitely before expiry of psw which is in June 2025). Msc start date is Sept 2024 to be completed by Sept 2025. Cc Zahra29, Oga Lexus. |

Schoolhike: Most airlines require a fit to fly certificate after 28 weeks which they could obtain if they wanted to return to Nigeria. Otherwise they could apply to the home office for an extension outside the rules due to the medical circumstances. However the home office could argue that they had sufficient time to leave before the EDD, they might also not hear back in time from the home office and risk becoming overstayers (and being charged for the birth) in the process. 2 Likes |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 3:27pm On May 03, 2024 |
Jamesclooney: The reality is a broken bed (which in their view might be self inflicted) is never going to be treated with the same urgency as a potentially fatal gas leak or fire. If it's an unbearable situation, you could inform the agency that you will buy a new bed for yourself (which you will take with you when you move out) and request that they dispose of the broken bed. Or else keep applying pressure to them to change the bed. |

Gloriouscrown: Yes they are allowed to study for an MSc, however they would be subject to international fees and depending on the course they might have to apply for an ATAS certificate 1 Like |
