The moon is one quarter the size of the earth, it has gravitational force, it is extremely close to the earth and yet you expect the moon gravity to not affect the earth? The moon gravitational force is slowing down the rotation of the earth. God created and positioned the moon so that it will affect the earth in this manner.

Please read Genesis 1 vs 16-18 again. It will help you to understand why God created the moon.

Number two is incorrect correct. The reason why we see 24 hour days today is because of previous tidal heating that robbed the earth of angular momentum. About 3 billion years ago, 2 billion years after the earth cooled sufficiently enough to allow the genesis of life, the earth was spinning considerably faster, but as it spins, the moon on one side slightly tugs the earths crust towards it, resulting in tidal heating and eventually a spin down of the earth. This process is still happening even today and it is expected that the earths spin will slow down even further far down into the future.
