Are you sure that you are correct about the defination of purchasing power? To me, i think purchasing power means when workers are paid high salary, so that they can buy whatever they need or want. So purchasing power means high or increased salary. olaideeeedris: 3 Likes |

But you did not state your reasons how increased inflation will not led to inflation, So as to counter what he said. So the question is, will high salary led to inflation? 1Alex: |

seborrhic:It doesn't work that way most times,, more money in circulation doesn't necessarily lead to inflation, where there is more money and increase in the level of productivity, what would happen is deflation which is the direct opposite of inflation , this would improve the living standards of workers on fixed salaries as against the inflation that favours mostly the business men. 1 Like |

₦150k max Minimum should be ₦100k You must be realistic to know that anything below ₦100k solved nothing and anything above ₦150k causes more harm to both the workers and the economy. 1 Like |

Very unfortunate. NLC has totally lost it. The most unproductive corrupt people in this economy asking for an astronomical increase in salaries that will eventually cause inflation. |

GanagiBitrus:Your submission is subjective and based on self interest. Most of u not salary earners don't know the importance of increase in minimum wage. If the situation is left like this, in a couple of year most Nigerians ( including non salary earners) will live in abject poverty. 1 Like 1 Share |

Govt should pay for their accommodation, fuel, medicals? This makes zero sense. Unrealistic demands. They should add sex allowance too. True the minimum wage must be increased but all these other demands eh.... |

olaideeeedris: This prices were too much for people who lived in the 70s and 80s and 90s, only those who earn 6digits in Dollars could afford at that time. In 1998 minimum wage was #5500 which is equal to $250 and $250 today is same as #350000 , bringing time value of money what that minimum wage in 1998 will have a purchasing power of #650000 in today's money. pharmagba: NLC are not serious with the bogus figures they are putting forward, how will they convince anyone. We are talking about minimum wage earner here i.e the least wage that should be paid anywhere in Nigeria. How will a minimum wage earner be living in a house of 40000 per month, that's 480000 per year. Note we are talking about wage for unskilled workers like cleaners, attendants, maid, etc. even private school teachers should not be minimum wage earners but for weak labour laws in Nigeria. How many private establishment is even paying the existing minimum wage even for graduates in their employ? Medical expenses of 50k per month when health insurance in oyo state is less than 14000/annum for standard package while premium subscription is like 50-100k per annum. Electricity bill of 20k/month Waste management bill of 10k/month For unskilled workers wage? Or maybe NLC is talking about the wage of skilled workers with HND, Bsc etc. 1 Like |
