Changpeng Zhao, the founder and former chief executive of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange, has been sentenced to four months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a money-laundering violation.

He was sentenced in U.S District Court in Seattle, as all the efforts of his lawyers to put him on probation without any prison time crashed.

Judge Richard A. Jones, who oversaw the case, said “Your conduct does not warrant a 36-month sentence.”

He called Mr. Zhao “a dedicated family man and a giving person” and praised his “staggering accomplishment” in building Binance.

Mr. Zhao, 47, in a brief remark to the court said “I failed here,” “I deeply regret my failure, and I’m sorry.”

David Yaffe-Bellany’s report from the court on April 30, 2024 stated that “Mr. Zhao pleaded guilty to only a single criminal count.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria awaits the extradition of Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Africa regional manager for Binance.

Recall that on March 22, 2024, Anjarwalla, Binance’s regional manager and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan, escaped from a guest house in Abuja, he reportedly fled Nigeria with a passport from the East African country. He was led by the guards to a nearby mosque for prayers in the spirit of the Ramadan fast.

Vice president of the Interpol (Africa) executive committee, Garba Umar has assured that he will be extradited.

A regional manager is not liable. This is why the extradition will never work.

If Nigerian government has anything against Binance, they should hold the CE0/founder responsible.

It is the foolish mindset of arresting a close relative because the police could not locate the suspect that have beclouded the reasoning of EFCC, FIRS and others pursuing this case. This mindset won't work in other countries.

Old news. CZ was jailed in the US. He wasn't jailed because the US authorities 'felt' that Binance affects the fx rate of the dollar to other currencies. The US is not like the useless APC government that blames others for their errors.

No need for any useless propaganda. The fx rate is blind to propaganda.

Even in a thousand years, it shall amount to nothing good.

He was sentenced on 30th April.

4 days later the news is making front-page on NL.

Do you see why I keep saying that Tinubu's government is hellbent on using propaganda to rule Nigeria?

I predicted that Tinubu is going to win 2023 election because of PDP division.

I can tell you that Tinubu will lose woefully if election is conducted today. He's such an abysmal failure.

Propaganda does not develop a nation. International investors and market makers are monitoring everything this government is doing and everything Tinubu government is doing is keeping investors away from Nigeria.

Even Nigerians are scared of investing in Nigeria because of the untold hardship Tinubu's government has put the masses in.
